Description As a fan of classic horror movies, I really wanted to draw Peter Cushing for a long time and I'm quite happy how this portrait turned out!  He was such an amazing and talented actor who was also a very kind man, I really love to watch his movies, Horror of Dracula and The Mummy being my favorites so far. And can't forget to mention his role as Tarkin in Star Wars IV - A new hope too.

It's funny how I tried to draw him once as Baron Frankenstein but somehow it became another one of the unsolved misteries of my disappearing drawings along with the one I did of Bela Lugosi. XD (I have this ongoing theory that it's like Dracula and Dr. Frankenstein ran away to Narnia because both drawings simply vanished from my desk and were never seen again.   )
I have to say that Mr. Cushing had a really lovely but rather unique face and at some point I was literally battling with some of his features. XD ( like his nose and cheekbones)

This drawing was made with a ballpoint pen and the reference was a really beautiful photo that I found on the Peter Cushing Appreciation Society UK page.

Thank you!
He is definitely one of my favorite actors too, it's always a great joy to watch his movies but man, was he hard to draw! XD It was challenging but I worked on this drawing with the biggest smile ever.

St. Peter is indeed tough to render.  I have a couple of attempts that I made in the past that make me go..."OUCH" when I look at them.

This is such a beautiful rendition of Peter Cushing! I really love the gentle linework and shading you used to suggest the shadows in this one. I can definitely see how some parts of his face was a little difficult, his cheekbones and nose seem really really challenging!

He had such unique features, it was truly a joy working on this portrait of Peter Cushing so I'm glad that you liked it!!  (he's one of my favorite actors. ^^)
The left side of his face in the reference was covered by a shadow so I had a bit of trouble with that part. His nose definitely was tricky, I don't know how to explain why it's so hard to draw though. XD

No I completely get it, some things are just weirdly difficult for inexplicable reasons. XD It turned out great though, I honestly would not be able to tell that you struggled with it if you hadn't told me haha XD

Sweet!  He really was an amazing actor and person.  I think because of the uniqueness of his features he's one of the most challenging people to draw, good job

Thanks! He was definitely challenging, his nose gave me a lot of trouble for some reason but I enjoyed drawing him. (and I really want to read his autobiography, heard it was a good book)

Now I'm planning on drawing Christopher Lee too. ^^

Wow, I'm glad that you liked it so much! Thanks!!   (oh my, maybe I should put a swooning warning on this drawing  )

The reference photo was just so pretty and I really enjoyed working on this portrait, I had the biggest smile ever when drawing this one.  There are a few messy lines here showing the slight scuffle I had with the pen when shading his nose and cheekbones though. XD

Thank you, that really means a lot!!
I've been planning on drawing Peter Cushing for months, I was bit afraid of not being able to draw him properly but I'm so happy that I managed to finish this portrait of him!  (now to complete my list of favorite horror actors I just need to draw Christopher Lee. )

Yup, I used a common black ballpoint pen. The shading has this sort of sketchy feel but I really like how the pen gives a different texture to the drawing. The only problem is that there's no way to erase when you mess up something. XD

You're very welcome friend! ^^

Ooh!~ o: I will patiently await this future portrait.

That's why I was surprised you used pen. xD
It can be very difficult to be accurate without mistakes, so I applaud you and your skills.

Thanks!!
His face has some pretty hard to capture features, but his hair was rather fun to draw. ^^
