Aww this is so cute ^.^
Thanks again for the picture ^^
Its really cool to see both of them in your drawing style^^ I also like the compositioning of the S.T.A.R.S.-Logo on the clothing pieces, photoediting is pretty good^^
I like the heartwarming feel to it, great job overall ^^

Hey no problem ^^ Of course youre doing a good job with your drawings^^
I wasnt sure if you knew any Resident Evil Characters, but then I thought, it wouldnt really matter if you knew them, because the interpretation of the artist would make it interesting.
And I think you interpreted them very well within your style^^
Molte grazie ^.^

Ahh, man that's just ADORABLE! X3
And yet these two never actually meet at all in the entire game since Jill's partnered up with Barry Burton during her scenario.
I know this was commissioned by Skornie (Somebody I for some reason see almost everywhere I go on the internet) but you've managed to capture the likeness of these characters down pretty well.
EXCEPT FOR ONE MAJOR DETAIL!!!
Jill's missing her shoulder pads... The 1980s are crying out in pain.
Not a major problem mind you, and I'm guessing they were probably omitted so we could see Rebecca's smiling expression, but as someone who plays the PS1 Resident Evil games quite often its a detail that does kinda drive me INSANE!!!
XD All the same my friend, fantastic work, hope Skornie gets a kick outta this.

XD Nothing to worry about, I think it was for the better honestly, especially since we'd lose out on Rebecca's adorable smile so if nothing else its all good in the hood.

Mostly on a lot of survival horror stuff, I don't know why, but I suppose our interests intertwine which is probably why it happens, even if we've never spoken before. Regardless as such though you seem pretty cool dude : )
^^ But yeah! I love me some classic Resident Evil, I'll always hold RE1, 2, 3 Code Veronica, Zero and the 2002 REmake close to my heart.

Ahh yes these are so awesome^^ You know those are those kind of games you can play every now and then and they get better with every play ^^ Esspecially Code Veronica has like the best villains. And all of the games have great pacing^^
But tell me what do you like the most about the classics or RE in general? ^^

Solidus-Skully In reply to Skornie [2018-05-17 15:42:45 +0000 UTC]
Y-you never noticed me? :' (
XD Thanks man.
Resident Evil wasn't the beginning of my survival horror love (Silent Hill 1 takes that honor) but there was so much for me to love about the Classic Resident Evil games (which really made me love the tank control scheme despite everybody else hating it).
Honestly I could gush for a long while and everything that I would have to say about Resident Evil would be a very very long 12 book novel series worth of fanatical love for the series, but to put it in short.
Love the ambient music (Especially in Resident Evil 2 and 3)
The atmosphere managing to be macabre, but also giving it a somewhat dark sci fi feel to it with the whole Bio-Terrorism aspect akin to a late 90s B-Horror Movie.
The survival mechanics themselves being limited resources, item boxes, medical supplies limited to herbs and first aid sprays whilst also plotting out your routes and which enemies to kill vs which enemies to maneuver around.
And above all else there's the story itself bringing in a lot of B-Movie vibes, but its the sort of thing I can't help but smile at, doubly so for the games in a Pre-Resident Evil 4 era which kinda capture that 90s B-Movie vibe perfectly.
That and the characters have always stuck in my mind, even despite some characters getting on people's nerves more than others (Steve Burnside I still love you DX ... Even if we'll never see you again)
: ) Definitely agree with your thoughts on the Ashford Twins, especially with the scene of them both pulling off the butterfly wings before certain incestuous implications came up about their characters which quickly turned very dark once you got a glimpse into what was going on with the T-Veronica Virus.
Wow... I'm a goddamn nerd for this series XD

Skornie In reply to Solidus-Skully [2018-05-17 16:00:38 +0000 UTC]
Im so sorry T_TΒ XDD
I totally agree with you on that, I really do like the tank-controls. I never had big problems and it really feels intuitive for the camera-perspective ^^
Ah starting with SH 1 nice ^^
Yeah the music is ambient but still memorable^^ Code Veronica is also great in this regard ^^
People very seldom point out the B-Horror-type feel, when they say they love RE. Thats so cool^^
I mean I like how it is on one side genuinely scary but also cheesy at the same time^^
And yes the light sci-fi elements do make it more enjoyable^^
The story might have been 90s cheese overall, but it was told very well^^
It has a certain air of mystery, but it never gets too complicated or convoluted^^
XDD Poor Steve^^ But youre right the characters a big factor for the franchise^^
I think a big factor why the characters are so great is their design. Take Jill`s S.T.A.R.S. Uniform for example. It has a police and military vibe too it. A nice beret to give it a "commando" look, and of course the shoulder pads? Do they make sense ? I dont know but theyre cool^^
Esspecially because Jill can wear an armor without looking too "manly". Jills armor manages to keep her feminine body shape and make her look like a badass^^ Sorry if this description doesnt make any sense x3
Oh god O.O Yeah that part about the Ashfords was so creep O.OΒ
And this only shows how many layers of horror Code Veronica had. Its not only "eww zombies and blood" but also "eww insects" and "eww incest" you know what I mean?^^
Oh god a nerd... and thats one more reason to add why you seem pretty cool xDΒ

Solidus-Skully In reply to Skornie [2018-05-17 16:18:13 +0000 UTC]
Code Veronica's soundtrack is fantastic! Its one of my favorite things to listen to when working on projects (especially the save room track. I swear there has been nothing that's conveyed such a peaceful vibe until I heard the Save Room theme in Code Veronica)
Truth be told though Even despite the whole B-movie factor turning people off from the whole 'not scary' factor of the games, its also part of the reason why I love it, its atmosphere is something you just can't find anywhere else (and most especially in games like Resident Evil 3 and Code Veronica there is something genuinely terrifying about the games themselves whether it be one aspect like Nemesis and the corporate conspiracy plot of Umbrella's plan in and of itself or just how utterly messed up things get like in the case of the Ashford plot of Code Veronica)
While Jill's RE3 look is still my favorite, the RE1 S.T.A.R.S Uniform has always been a cool look. Its militaristic to some degree, but its got a certain unique personalized look to it that sets her apart from the likes of Chris, Barry or Wesker where they all seem to go for the vest look.
It kinda suits her with a whole "I'm a highly trained Police Officer you don't wanna mess with" while also giving it a bit of a feminine edge to it.
Code Veronica is all kinds of "Icky" if you've got a fear of bugs, and are uncomfortable with the idea of one of your main villains being a cross dressing effeminate psychopath while he and his twin sister have an all too creepy love for one another (The scene where she awakens only to cradle Alfred in her arms is definitely a scene that makes me a tad uncomfortable knowing what their relationship was while she strokes his hair)
: ) Now I can't stop grinning, I'm glad to have met you and had the chance to talk with you ya know?
You kick ass! XD

Skornie In reply to Solidus-Skully [2018-05-17 16:39:05 +0000 UTC]
Ahh yeah this Save room theme is esspecially calming^^Β
Infact all of them are memorable in their own right^^
Out of curiousity what projects you working on?Β
Thats right ! Thats what it makes so special. Other Horror games or movies get a totally depressing (tone which is not bad at all if done right, see Silent Hill), but in RE it allways has some kind of "cheekiness" to it. Extra ordinary people standing up to the horror.
I also love the Cliche that in the end you blow up the Final Boss with a Rocket Launcher^^ (There is also a series on Youtube called "Road to the Rocket Launcher on Youtube, you might have heard of it ^^)
Yes you said it right^^ It does give her a feminine edge^^ And still even if all other S.T.A.R.S. members go for the vest look they are still differently looking and have their own minor unique spins on the Uniform^^
Yeah Code Veronica had some really interesting themes ^^ The way you described the Cradle Awakening scene, this is one of the reasons why the RE games are so replayable, during a second or third run it gets more messed up the more you know^^
Thank you XD You to mate^^
Yeah Im very glad too ^.^ Feels pretty awesome ^^ Its really fun talking to ya^^
'Well I guess "Homo-shipping-Fan drawings" are good location to make new acquaintances x3
Now Im curious how exactly did you get into RE ?^^ What was the point where you said "ok I love it" ?^^Β

Solidus-Skully In reply to Skornie [2018-05-17 17:00:27 +0000 UTC]
Resident Evil is a series I've always loved for that tongue in cheek B-Movie feeling without having to go over the top self aware "LOL! We're sooo wacky!"
It strikes a good a nice balance between when to be serious and when to let its goofier moments shine (namely with Chris's puns "Looks like we got to the ROOT of the problem" and the RE2 Trucker's line of "Why'd he bite me?". Some might call it formulaic, but goddamn do I love those final lines like Claire's "You lose big guy!" or Jill's "I'll make you see S.T.A.R.S!" before delivering the final blow.
I've only seen part one of GamingBrit's Road to Rocket Launcher series (been meaning to watch parts 2 and 3 but, I've been busy in recent times... Mostly to make more time for Deviant Art stuff I want to do but that's beside the point) Loved the video series pretty well thus far.
If there is one thing I can give S.T.A.R.S over a lot of the characters that came in from Resident Evil 5 and beyond its that S.T.A.R.S. had a very distinct look for their officers, but I could still tell apart a character like Brad 'Chickenheart' Vickers from someone like Joseph Frost or Captain "Yeah?" Enrico.
Uniform, yet unique in its own ways that best reflects what I'm guessing is their positions in the Alpha and Bravo teams.
Honestly Code Veronica and Resident Evil 2's informational material gives you some very messed up stuff regarding how the G-Virus and T-Veronica Viruses operate and spread which really did reward the player for going out of their way to do a bit of extra reading if they wanted something scary to think about whenever they encountered certain people or Zombies during the game.
X3 Ah, it always cheers me up to know other people are having as much fun as I am.
And don't you dare talk smack about those Homo-fanshipping drawings! We all know that Riku is Sora's one true love!
As for what got me into Resident Evil?
Well it was pretty much reading up on how back in 1999 people considered Silent Hill to be a rip off of Resident Evil
IT MADE ME SO GODDAMN ANGRY THAT I... played the game, had a really good time and fell in love with the classic 1996 PS1 game that changed the Survival Horror landscape forever XD
Since then I played every game in the series albeit only renting some of the later entries like RE5 and 6 because money was at $0 dollars which made me very sad : (
XD But needless to say I've always had a soft spot for this series and love doing an annual playthrough of the Classic Resident Evil games at least once a year.
How about you? I'm curious to know how you found Resident Evil?

Yes ! Exactly, nowadays so many more modern movies are too much tongue in cheek.
But even if the voice acting was bad or couldnt be taken seriously the CHARACTERS took their situation
allways seriously.
I remember a tongue in cheek moment in RE Revelations, but I think it was played well. A comrade of Jill says: "Man walking around in circles in the same areas suck."Β Jill: "Get used to it. Its like the main part of this job."
Yes the goofy moments do really shine^^Β The S.T.A.R.S. line gets me every time^^
Those videos are pretty great and insightful^^
YEAH !? yeah yeah... XD
Most of them had minor roles, but they were memorable and likeable^^
Now that you mention Bravo Teams look, even if they are part of the S.T.A.R.S. team they really do look distinct overall from the Alpha Team
Thats right. But the best part about those infomertial texts, they never force them onto. Its still the players choice to read it thorougly or to just blaze through it. They never tell it outright to you. Its kinda subtle for a horror franchise with a B-Movie vibe x3
XDΒ Thats great to hear x3
I would never do that^^ The fact, that I randomly noticed you under a homo-fanshipping-picture speaks itself for the value for those kind of pictures ^^ I never played Kingdom Hearts, but I think I get what you mean, you know sometimes two characters of the same sex appear to fit better to each other personality-wise than the "canon" or "standard" ship.
For example in RE "Jill x Chris" is pretty widely accepted. But "Jill X Rebecca" is just better because 1. Two ladies^^Β 2. They are more balanced personality wise, Jill is the strong type, Rebecca the more emotionally supportive type^^
Hey thats an interesting way to get into it, awesome XD
Thats the bad part about gaming... can be quite expensive... :/
Yes once a year? ^^ Thats cool! Do you play them in a specific order ? Is it a marathon?^^
I play RE 1 from 1996 every year, when christmas comes around the corner^^
How I got into RE?
Back in 1998 my godfather, bought a PS1 and it was his first game. I was a child back then, but I watched him playing it.
My memory is kinda fuzzy but I vaguely remember that I was responsible for the Crow-Room death, when he left to buy something ^^
After some years in my teens, some family members played the game and talked about it. One of the family members borrowed me RE Code Veronica, I didnt get very far but I loved it^^Β RE Outbreak was the first RE I bought^^ RE4 was the hottest shit when I was in high school so I watched my cousin playing it so I could talk about it too^^
I discovered the RE Wiki and just browsed through it, the monsters, placed and villains seemed intrigiun and I read through it. On YouTube I stumbled up on the animation Channel Shadowleggy and I loved the way the characters were represented and parodied.
From there on I was trying to get all the games, and got RE 1, from there on out I was pretty much hooked^^

A tongue in cheek joke every now and again is fine, but I think there's something to be said about the whole "If the characters don't take things seriously then why should I?" Part of the reason why I don't mind the occasional joke like when Moira mocked Barry's 'Jill Sandwich' line in Revelations 2.
I was mostly speaking in jest regarding the whole homo-ship thing, I can go either way on the whole subject, but there is definitely the vibe that two characters seem to get along better than what the writers often seem to think is the canon ship for transporting goods and commodities across the sea. XD Seriously though, if two characters just click, my inner sap just can't help but find it adorable... No matter how cynical, gothy and morose I may get with age, I'm a total sap for a good love story. X3
That and if Kingdom Hearts doesn't end with Sora and Riku declaring their love for one another I'm disowning the whole series... Okay I couldn't ever do that, but still... Like you said sometimes its so painfully obvious and yet they deny TRUE LOVE!!!
As for my Resident Evil marathon, its usually going from the first game on the PS1 through 2, 3 and Code Veronica (Dreamcast version! XD).
Zero and the REmake I usually go back to every once in a while, which is always a rewarding experience.
I gotta say I love how you've pretty much been with the series for about as long as the second game has been out, doubly so since your experience of seeing someone else play it before you took the helm (and died by crows) feels very nostalgic in a way (namely with my own siblings way back when but that's another story)
: ) I love hearing stories like this, just seeing people's fandom interest grow from a brief experience many years ago. Its an amazing thing to see.

Yeah it was a great idea to bring that Sandwich line back^^
Revelations 2 might have been the most tongue in cheek of the RE series
But they did a pretty good job^^
Esspecially Barry was sooooo goooood ^^
Ah I see^^ My english is not the best, so it can happen that some may get over my head x3
XD thats great^^ Say, what makes a good love story for you? What are the right components, what are the no-gos?^^
Thats so awesome !^^ But you dont stream by any chance right?^^ Dreamcast version... intersting^^ I only had the PS 2 with the Devil May Cry Demo. So the only difference, as far as I know, is that PS 2 has extra cutscenes, while Dreamcast doesnt?
Oh and you also own a Dreamcast? Thats so awesome, the library of games on this console is really interesting^^
I think many people have a specific game which allways followed them around ^^
Have you played Parasite Eve 2? It followed me basically, through coincidence through some parts in my life namely, childhood, teens, 20`s and so on^^
Did you also played some times with your siblings on the PS 1?^^

Solidus-Skully In reply to Skornie [2018-05-18 06:57:55 +0000 UTC]
The two Revelations games were a blast to play.
As for your English, its honestly pretty good for someone who isn't a native English speaker so colour me impressed dude : )
As for what makes a good love story... Well that'd take a lengthy explanation but suffice it to say chemistry between to characters is key from my understanding.
Sadly I don't stream, don't really have the set up for it, but if I had the opportunity I'd give it a shot and see how it'd go.
Speaking of the Devil I had no idea the PS2 version of Code Veronica had Devil May Cry as a demo... Something I feel very sad I missed (but then again I did pick up Devil May Cry own my own anyway so not a total loss XD)
I think all Code Veronica X (the PS2 version) had was the Wesker Reports, a few extra cutscenes and a different hairstyle for Steve that went from "Late 90s Grunge singer" to "Early 2000s emo"
The Dreamcast version might be a tad vanilla by comparison, but the control scheme and the added perks of ammo and health display on the VMU are always a welcome plus.
Owned a Dreamcast for the past few years, as a testament to my SEGA fandom since I really wanted to play Shenmue, Urban Chaos, Code Veronica, Soul Caliber II, Skies of Arcadia (The list goes on really XD) Its actually the system I own Resident Evil 2 and 3 on as well, which is pretty cool since these versions of the game have a few nicely added details like faster loading times, VMU health and ammo display and extra costumes in RE3.
For me that one specific game that followed me throughout my lifetime has gotta be Silent Hill, its a franchise I hold so dear to my heart and one that I always enjoy revisiting.
As for Parasite Eve its always been a series I've wanted to get into except then money got in the way and I've been longing to pick them up ever since.

Oh yeah^^ Esspecially the second one had the action and horror style figured out really good imo^^
THanks man^.^ To be honest, sometimes I do have problems with grammar, then I write something which just "sounds right", or I heard in an english speaking movie x3
I didnt knew that with the different hairstyle ^^ Oh thats right the VMU ! It sounds awesome to know how much ammo and health you have without going into the inventory. Given that all classic RE has no HUD this makes it really immersive and practical^^
Oh cool^^ I was allways interested in Shenmue. From what I have only saw as a teen it felt like a mind blowing "life-simulator" the amount of small things you can do^^ For example its really cool that you can use rotary phones in that game and have to punch in every number^^
Whats your absolute favourite Dreamcast game?^^
I can totally see why its SH ^^ I really do love SH too esspecially the 4th one felt really great^^ But all of them have such an amazing story. SH 2 for example came out in 2001 and still to this day people discuss it, or make video essays about it like it would have just came out last year^^
If you like RE you`ll love Parasite Eve 2^^ PE 2 is like one of my top 5 games^^ I heard that people from RE2 were working on PE2 and it really shows, in the amount of replay value, branching storypaths and hidden "sidequests".
Best thing about this game is the "flavour text", the describtion of your suroundings^^ Seriously I never had more fan walking around a room and pressing X all the time. The inner monologues are funny, informative, interesting and also do a great job of character building^^
Sadly I only watched a Lets Play of PE 1 because only the second was released in Europe. And a copy of PE 1 costs like 300 bucks if im guessing right^^ But from what I have seen the story must be really awesome^^

Seriously man the fact that you've managed this much by ear and what you've picked up from TV and movies over the years is something to be admired. : )
If you ever get the chance, pick up Shenmue and Shenmue II (and Shenmue III when its released later this year XD) They're fantastic games. Especially since there's gonna be a HD re-release of Shenmue I and II coming out this year allowing people with a PS4 and XBOXONE to pick the games up
With all this talk of Parasite Eve my desire to own the games just increases exponentially, As soon as I can get the money together, that's my next target... But MAN are they expensive : (
I loved the inner monologues for being both informative and entertaining, doubly so with Heather Mason in Silent Hill 3 and Dante from Devil May Cry 1.

It wasnt purely through movies though^^ Some of it was also school^^
You know there are some things like Wrestling or Resident Evil which just ships in the original language, to germany.
So hearing it over and over again it just happens I guess. Thank you :3
O.O For PS 4 that would be awesome^^
Yes... unfortunately :/ But when you have the money its gonna be worth it ^^Β
Cant say anything about PE 1 gameplay wise. But PE 2 is like combat heavy classic RE, with a more tactical edge. Also the RPG-Elements are nice^^
Heather ones were really cool ^^ I like that part, when you were in a room and a monster was helplessly trapped inside a locker. Or the room with the cigarettes and so on^^Β

Yeah, coming to PS4 sometime in 2018, haven't got an exact date yet, but either way its got me excited as all hell.

Maybe youll get a good deal on a PS4 digital copy of the PE games. In Europe you cant get PE 1 even digitally. But youre from Australia so I hope all parts will be aviable there^^
XDDD Oh I didnt remembered that quote^^ I was too young and scared for SH3^^Β

Well so long as the money is good on my end I'll take a gander into seeing where I can pick up the Parasite Eve series whether it be via digital means or a physical copy.
While we're on the subject I do hope that you pick up Silent Hill 3 again because despite its fear factor it is one of my favorite psychological horror games of all time.
As for continuing the conversation hell yeah! I'm more than willing to keep this conversation going via notes. I love talking to you dude. : )
