You probably recognize the monsters from Greek mythology among Hydra's pets: the Minotaur and the Gorgon. But you probably do not recognize the South Slavic monsters, so let me introduce you to:

Bukavac: The frog like demon, very popular in Serbian mythology. It's described as a giant amphibian with horns on its head and six legs: two legs of a salamander and a human pair. This creature lives in bogs and lakes, produces a lot of noise by gargling mud. The noise can be so loud that it causes a person or an animal to freeze and then bukavac jumps out of the water and devours his prey.

Psoglav: Also known as Pesoglav, the name literally translates as "dog head". This monster is popular in folklore of Serbia, Macedonia and Albania. It's described as a werewolf like being: half man half dog, but the dog is a cyclops, because the dog head has just one huge evil eye. Psoglavi eat human flesh among many other things and their favorite food is women's breasts. However, despite their fearsome appearance, these monsters don't have any magical abilities, so if they can't catch their prey with brute force, they won't even try. They love spending time around graveyards where they dig up corpses to eat.
