Leomon always dies. This is an immutable paradigm of the Digimon series. The only usefulness that Toei-Bandai has for Leomon is to be killed. No matter what level of evolution he are in, how much power he have or what type of Leomon he are. Being a Leomon in a Digimon series is practically asking someone to come and kill you in the cruelest way possible. This time Toei didn't even want to hide all the contempt they felt for Leomon. They grotesquely mocked him making him freak out and almost have a heart attack and an orgasm of passion, in one of the most absolutely Master Roshi Kame-Sennin scenes that I've never seen in an anime, by Meicoomon, just the Digimon that would kill him in the end. And the most humiliating thing besides dying at the hands of an apparently inoffensive Digimon is that Leomon was able to control himself and overcome the infection that contaminated him precisely to save Meicoomon because in truth he liked her he risked his life to save she was shown to be silly and in love with her just to in the end she just disintegrates he. I have no more doubts. Toei hates Leomon.

Toei basically kills a Leomon with every new Digimon anime series simply because they "CAN" there is no one to stop them from doing that they write the scripts for the Digimon series so if they happen to kill a Leomon for pure perverse pleasure and insidious fun dislikes anyone in the audience that person who goes to watch another anime series if the fact that they killed Leomon for more than 20 consecutive years dislikes someone. They do what they want the Digimon anime series is theirs, the Digimon are also theirs so if they want to kill Leomon indefinitely for all the new Digimon anime series that debut in the future they will rather kill Leomon and damn it if anyone bother.
