It is becoming clear. Book series such as His Dark Material is done better as an episodic television series. This is better then the Golden Compass, it's slower pace and it has more depth then the movie.

True, especially since most books are very episodic in formula and structure.

Four episodes have aired of His Dark Materials and four more will air in the coming weeks. Each episode is an hour long, totaling 8 hours of time to tell the story. A movie is generally no more then 2 hours. Because there is more time, it can take its time telling a story, expanding the plots and developing each of the characters and so on.
