I love that scene too. Because this must be the first YA novel EVER when no-one saw that coming. I mean, c'mon, he tried to kill her. Usually you know in the first sceneβfirst lookβthose two are ending up together. I love that with Ian and Wanda it was a kind of slow friendship-grows-into-love no-one-saw-that-coming fall. Cute.

LOL I thought it was pretty obvious that he had done a complete 180 when he started following her around all over the place. But that's just me. I thought it was funny how everyone in the book is like "Whaaaat?" And I was all ummm... you mean you didn't realize this was going on three chapters ago?

Well, yes, at a certain point it was obvious. I realised, I guess, round the time the guys came back from the raid, maybe a little later. Before that I was quite naively convinced he was acting out of conscience, like Doc, and maybe curiosity, like Jeb, and at some point out of friendship, like Jamie.
But in a way it is unexpected because for a good chunk of the book there's Jared Jared Jared. There's already a love triangle, there's already a guy the main girl's in love with. You're not (as you usually are from the moment you open a YA novel) waiting for the love interest to reveal himself, because there already IS a love interest.
I think it makes an unusual and special book.

I completely agree that Ian is more of a Jacob than Edward!! He was the one who picked her up when the man she loved knocked her down :3

#9. Thats what I had thought too! The way Ian like...totally understand Wanda and all that jazz...totally screams for a Jacob comparison.
But in my honest opinion, I think both dudes show similarities between both Twilight guys...in certain ways...so there ya go~!
