Hey again Gordon,
What a beautiful portrait, so sensitive... the impression of modesty and feminity is so well rendered. A masterpiece ! Congratulation.
Thanks to your link I could also discover Fery's work, which is very beautiful.

Anne, thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot to me.

I have been meaning to respond to your posting "Roma." I spent some time comparing it to "Siena." It is fascinating to me how different these two pieces are in spite of the similarity of style. You have managed to convey an exotic look in Siena and a very classical look in Roma. The direct, front facing posture in Roma evokes a statue while the turned torso in Siena suggests movement. The draped fabric in Roma puts me in the classical era, the scooped neck makes me think of the Renaissance. There is a confidence and composure, and "icy-ness" in Roma that contrasts with the innocence and excitement in Siena. Well done.
I don't think they have the impact of your portrait work, but they are lovely drawings and convey a lot of feeling in a very economical style. I have not been to Siena, but have spent a little time in Rome and feel like you captured one of the many facets of that amazing, complicated city.

Keep painting! Gordon

Hello Gordon, Thank you for your comments about "Roma" and "Siena". Actually what you noticed about their differences matches rather well with the differences I perceive between the two cities. Roma is more classical, I found it somptuous, beautiful and proud, whereas Siena is more intimate, full of grace and charm. I keep painting, but those last days, I was in Helsinki for work, and right now I'm in France, so I can't paint. But a new portrait is coming... Another of Soumette, the model of "The stars' charmer"
