This song reminds me of these three- Morgana (Merlin) Loki (Thor/Avengers) and Anakin (Star Wars).
Each of them had their issues and genuinely started out good but became evil due to hatred, anger, fear and jealousy.
They were misunderstood and didn't get the help they needed, they had many cracks underneath that they didn't let show.
But eventually they cracked and turned their backs on their family/friends (leave the past behind, just walk away) but doing so had hurtful consequences and resulted in being lonely and bitter (when its over, and my heart breaks). But the crack's truly showed when it was too late (and the cracks began to show).
