"Stand strong, guards! They may have breached the city's walls, but they will not take the castle while we still draw breath! Celestia's forces will arrive very soon, and we must only hold out for a little while longer!"

Luna was tasked with overseeing Canterlot's defenses while Celestia was to go on a campaign to the west. Shortly before Celestia was due to return, an unknown force from the north staged a rapid invasion straight into the heart of Equestrian territory. The attack would have been successful if Luna didn't have the foresight to station scouts throughout the land.

Still, even with roughly a day's advance warning, the guards were not fully prepared for such a large siege, and were quickly pushed back into the inner city, and the castle.

Celestia's forces are only a half a day's march away from the city. Luna's forces are under heavy siege, and extremely outnumbered.

This one was a lot of fun to draw, despite reusing a background. I couldn't think of a suitably decent backdrop that still had that 'Canterlot' feel to it. I don't know if my wrist could have taken much more, anyway!

That Night Guard's armor was a pain to draw, especially. But I just had to include him in the picture, rather than another regular guard. His design is awesome!
