Concept came from a challenge given to me by a former art professor to train a few skills that needed working on. He told me to draw a seraphim using primarily warm colours. It had to feel regal and mystical. It also had to include a pair of bird (of my choice).I chose to experiment with the water colour function of my staedler pencils on the back ground. In hind-sight I probably should have considered the paper type before doing this.
Done with Staedler water colored pencils.

You are right though, traditionally seraphim do have six wings and one set covers the face while another set covers the feet, leaving them one set for flying. A lot of modern fantasy though has added the extra set of wings just because wings are flippin' awesome. XD

I remember asking you to do this piece; it really is an amazing piece. I really wanted to see what you could do with colour and the background. Oftentimes, many digital artists forsake the finer humanities, as the Masters originally meant for them to be explored, for this new era of "art". I'm glad you were able to return to a foundation that has, as I've been seeing in the last hour of viewing your work, matured and blossomed into a unique and beautiful style. I'm very proud.

I loved to see what you would create with little guidance. I'm a platonic teacher, ergo I guide with subtle guidance and giving just enough of the answer for you to figure it out on your own. In the fine arts, that's the name of the game in my opinion. I wish I could get you to do more! Up for a Mr. K's challenge?
