Amish farm in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.Since the Amish still cling to "old ways" you will see a lot of fields with corn shocks like this.
Farmers have to chop down the cornstalks one at a time, and stack them in shocks to dry. A field of shocks, like hundreds of teepees in straight rows, is a magnificent sight.Β

thats for sure.. we used to get out to it fairly often when we lived in south jersey..such a pretty area and such great food.Β Β

I missed a a great shot though. Β There was an amish horse and buggy parked in front of the Ryder Motel. Β I thought the name of the motel and the buggy sitting in front made a cute statement but by the time we drove down the road and turned around the buggy was gone. Β

The last time I was in New Wilmington it was winter also. Β I have to go back in the spring and try to get some shots of the farmers plowing the fields.
