Description She used to be a butterfly
That Fluttered about my life

Now she's an emotionless robot
Commanded by a superior computer
Programming her to be compatible.
She's unaware of what he's doing to her.

She became, with the flip of a switch
An apathetic, mechanical bitch.
A maladriot but well-oiled cocoon
That used to house the butterfly that I knew.

And if I knew the proper coding
I might be able to transform the girl.
Restore her to her real self,
Being a two-winged beauty to the world.

Instead she marches past me without glancing
Artificially straight and direct.
And I know that it's not her
That keeps her from turning her neck.

Her optical sensors no longer gzae intently upon me.
She is, in every sense, a complete piece of machinery.

A failure of Orwellian proportions.
A humanoid, finding strength in ignorance
And freedom in metallic slavery. No longer the flight
of the liberated butterfly, or its aeronautic dance.

Her CPU found emotions to be corrupted.
So it formatted her memory to erase them.
And that is why she never thinks of me.
Her aftermarket components fixate upon him

Her technology is outdated and obsolete.
"Smile" is not a recognized command.
So she shifts about, dejected.
Her partner-bot's successful love plan.

As butterflies about the world
Do a dance of emancipation.
I perch myself upon a branch
and bemoan the failure of mechanization.

Don't mistake maggots for catterpillars. YOu watched her change into a fly; he pulled off her wings. Change- deftones. We want them to be butterflies but once they mature, they've chosen their course and there's no turning back. Ya can change a cucumber into a pickle but ya can't change a pickle back into a cucumber and so forth.
The last verse is beautiful. I think it could stand alone.
