My first picture of Axl. (And about bloody time, too!) This is a bit of a landmark in my art, since it's the first picture I've inked - I usually just stick to 2B pencil because I make such a mess with ink. I even used that Adobe Streamline program that I recently got my hands on to smooth out the line art. It's also the first picture I've done with my Wacom pad. Well, that's a little white lie. I did about half of it on Wacom, but I got so fed up with its fiddliness that I did the rest (including the no-brainer background) with the mouse. I'm still baffled by people who jump on Wacom and call it a godsend. I even witnessed a classmate claim it was the next item on his shopping list after using it for the first time. I'll admit it gives the user various degrees of pressure, but that's no substitute for the extra control that a mouse provides. You can rest your hand on the mouse, but most of the time you have to hold the Wacom pen hovering just above the pad. That's too awkward for me. For those of you who use a Wacom pad, please tell me why you find it so useful.Related content

Ah kawaii!! I love how you did him, he looks so perfect!! I do everything traditionally because I only have the basic MS paint, and it's a pain to do digital editing and stuff like that with it -.- so my Axl's never look this cool I hope someday I will be able to do this good. You, good sir, deserve a fave!! and this cookie

Anyways...
I still kinda wonder why people like the WACOM tablets better than a mouse myself. I still use mouse quite a bit.
The only reason why I like using the tablets is because it's so nice and smooth. That kind of makes it harder too though. Maybe it's because there are some angles that are easilier done with your hand and a pen like thing instead of the mouse?

Ah...about the tablets. It's only very useful if you are going to do stuff like this [link] which means realism. Details such as fine threads of hair are hard to achieve on mouse. SHading is better on a mouse to some extent, but if it is something that requires pressure tablet is the way.
And with the pen pressure, you get to go through little gaps without having to resize alot.

Tablets are god and devil. CGing with them are easier than inking. Ugh... inking takes ages to perfect!

Unless you're working on Adobe Illustrator or you're drawing some line using pen tool, mouse would be better

Awesome, finally I can see what those white things on the sides of the boots look like.. 
Very smooth coloring..he looks abit short, kind of chibi styled though. Or maybe that's just my imagination.

Nice job! I don't think it's HUGELY useful for this style CGing, not to mention it takes loooong time to be able to use it as accurately as a mouse...for me atleast. I love my tablet, but mostly because my CGing isn't block colours or cell style shading, I go for the more realistic colouring style cause I'm over picky. But really good job, very accurate lineart

I like using the Wacom over the mouse. I don't really have to put the pen hovering over the pad, you can set your hand down like normal paper (just wipe it off afterwards, I'm not sure if the oils on your hand would ruin the surface... probably) But I still like inking with a pen better, since the wecom pen feels more silppery than it should on plastic.

You can set the presure differently.. I'm so heavy handed I can litterally smash the stinking pen down to get an even semi-solid line ^_^;; You have no idea how long it took me to get to the point where I could draw faint lines o_O;

En fait c'est surtout qu'une tablette graphique pour moi c'est comme le crayon HB sur le papier, c'est la mΓͺme chose, donc je suis plus Γ l'aise avec la tablette qu'avec la souris. Il m'arrive parfois de faire des dessins entiΓ¨rement Γ la tablette.
Ah oui, j'utilise une tablette Aiptek, la diffΓ©rence avec la wacom? Aucune lol
A part ça le dessin est bien, mais le cristal sur le casque d'Axl est trop petit, bon ok je dis rien d'autre, après tout c'est ton premier dessin d'Axl
