Description
Another commission for of his character Monarch . This image is the third in a series of illustrations. You can see the previous two below.THE STORY SO FAR: Monarch is a robotic version of Sally from a parallel zone who idolizes her Mobius Prime counterpart. She watches Sally's kindness from the shadows to learn what it means to be a true Mobian. Using a holographic disguise to appear normal, Monarch infiltrates New Mobotropolis' digital library to learn more about Sally and her heritage. But she is soon discovered by Nicole and Sonic fights the intruder, chasing her to the mountains. As the damaged Monarch's holographic disguise fails and she prepares to make her last stand, Sally arrives to plead her to stop and come along quietly. She needs to know what Monarch is doing here and why she resembles Sally so much.... NEXT PICTURE COMING SOON!

Hm. I notice you don't really bother drawing Sonic in his present 3d model. Though I can't tell if it's just your style or fashioned after another depiction.

Hmm. Well, in regards to his design today you draw his snout longer. The shoes (whereas they may be more "realistic" the way you draw them) are pointier going down to their tips on the 3d model (they curve more). And whereas this scene is windy so it makes it hard to say, his head quills don't seem to align with his ear as they would on the 3d model. The ear itself looks to be pointed straight forward even though his ears slightly tilt to the side. (okay, ears, do move and with various artworks sometimes it's hard to pinpoint where they should be facing)
None of this stuff I really mind, but studying the present model which I like (some don't, which is okay), I notice things. Heaven knows I can only really get it right with a reference.

Wow, this is really something, I love the story this tells and how you got both counterparts seeing each other, while Sonic is ready for action Sally is doing her best to get through to Monarch, this picture tells that tale perfectly and wonderfully, it is truly captured well.

Awesome imagery as always! But i have a question. Is this still inside the digital world? because she never used a holographic cloak before she was pure robot in the first picture. And a digital representation in the second. Whats the pount of a holo form once you've been discovered? Its a pointless nitpick I know and I absolutely love how pitifull she looks in this image. I mean the fading pixels, the busted metal parts, and the way she's holding that stick make her look desperate and afraid. It makes feel for her but she better drop that thing before this melodrama ends in death for the robot.

Like Nicole's handheld Monarch is fitted with holographic projectors. Running on a Cold-fusion core, and being built for battle she has a lot more power at her fingertips than Nicole's handheld. They serve a secondary function as a sort of hardlight armor over her already tough shell. Of course sonic's handled a chaos empowered metal sonic, and much worse. It might've been a fight but he's worn her down.
In the first picture she wasn't wearing it because she wasn't being observed.
She's scared of Sonic, scared of Sally, scared of hurting either of them. She's a Badnik Horde commander, she's smart enough to know where this will end. She's facing living legends in their prime afterall. But if she goes with them she might hurt the princess she idolizes...
