Description Anakin noticed the clock out of the corner of his eye. He cursed and told Padme he really should leave. She waved goodbye, but Anakin never saw it. He knew he had to get home before he was shunned for the rest of his life. Maybe Obi-Wan would ask for a new padawan. Anakin shook his head and ran past many people on their way home.
“Excuse me,” Anakin stated before getting annoyed. “Come on, move!” He pushed through the people and almost tripped in the process. Anakin finally came to the familiar building and he ran up the stairs tripping again. He turned to run down the hallway but stopped when he saw his master sleeping at the door. Anakin slowed down and slowly approached him. He knew he’d have to wake him. Then all hell would break loose. He got down on his knees and gently pushed Obi-Wan’s shoulder. “Master,” he said quietly again. Soon he opened his eyes, which looked extremely blue and blood shot. He must have had a long meeting, Anakin thought. “I’m really sorry, I lost track of time,” he babbled. Obi-Wan just watched him, too tired to say anything. Anakin reached out his hand to help his master up. Obi-Wan shrugged it away and stood up himself. Feeling slightly offended, Anakin opened the door. He allowed Obi-Wan to lead.
He tried to take Obi-Wan’s cloak but he turned to face him instead. “Anakin, I can do it b y myself,” he said sternly. Anakin cringed. He wanted to apologize or do something but Obi-Wan didn’t seem in the mood to listen. He might have been sitting there for hours, Anakin imagined. No wonder he won’t talk. “Are you sure you don’t want anything?” Obi-Wan stopped at his door. “Tea would be nice.” Anakin smiled slightly, “Of course.”

Obi-Wan felt beyond tired. His throat hurt and his eyes were burning as he stumbled into his room. It was dark and it took him a while to find a light. When he did he shrugged off his cloak and hung it on his dresser. He sat on the edge of his bed and pulled off his boots, then placed them next to the door. Soon enough he was dressed in sleep clothing and he felt a bit more relaxed. A knock sounded at his door and soon it opened revealing Anakin. He carried the hot tea, luckily that was something he couldn’t mess up. Anakin handed the tea over and Obi-Wan nodded his head in thanks. Anakin sat on the side of the bed. He just watched him. He was probably really disappointed in him. He probably didn’t want to speak with him. “Anakin,” Obi-Wan asked. Anakin’s head shot up, “Huh?” “Your thoughts are too loud,” he said with a laugh. Anakin jumped a little. He had forgotten his shields. Crap, he thought annoyed. “Sorry,” he replied letting his head fall. “It’s alright, just giving me a little head ache. Maybe you should meditate.” Anakin scoffed. “I don’t think meditation is for me Master. I just get bored and fall a sleep.” It was quite for a while after that. Anakin wasn’t sure whether to leave or if Obi-Wan wanted him to stay. Anakin would never know, considering his Master’s shields were always up.  He finally decided to leave since Obi-Wan was probably exhausted anyway. “Anakin,” he asked again. “Yea?” Anakin turned and waited. “I’m not disappointed in you and I would love to speak with you when I’m not about to fall a sleep.” Anakin laughed and tossed his wavy blonde hair to the side. “I’m gonna test that knowledge in the morning Master.”

In the morning Obi-Wan awoke feeling much better.  He took a shower and dressed quickly. In the kitchen he searched for a glass but barely found it. After ten minutes it was found. Somehow it had made its way under the cabinet. He placed it on the counter and filled it. Soon he found another for Anakin and filled it with water.  Obi-Wan sat down at the table and glanced at the time. The clock read six thirty. He sipped the drink and tried to decide if he should do the difficult task now or later. He decided to get it over with. Obi-Wan got up reluctantly and went to Anakin’s room. He opened the door slightly but did not see him. Obi-Wan exhaled and walked opening the shade as he passed it. He stood right beside the bed and stared at the heap of blankets. It was a miracle Anakin never had any fevers.

“Anakin,” Obi-Wan said not loudly but not in a whisper. Nothing happened. He figured he could try again but what was the use. Anakin never wanted to get up and did not enjoy mornings as Obi-Wan did. “Anakin, I thought you wanted to be a Jedi?” In a moment a response came from the covers. Obi-Wan strained to hear the quiet voice. “What was that?” An annoyed moan sounded from the blankets once again. “Anakin, you have been waking at this time for at least six years, now don’t waste my time.” Finally the covers lifted to reveal a messy haired Anakin. He squinted his eyes at his master and lifted his eyebrow. Obi-Wan grinned, “Good, your up. You have fifteen minutes.” Obi-Wan began to walk away but stopped when his shoulder was hit by a pillow. He thought about turning around and correcting the behavior but assumed it was playful and began to walk out.  As he exited the room he laughed quietly to himself and shut the door.

Obi-Wan now stood in the kitchen washing one of the only cups they had. Once it was cleaned he placed it in the back of the cabinet. He had already finished breakfast, which was out on the counter still waiting for Anakin. His patience was beginning to run out. Obi-Wan knocked on the door. “It’s seven ten, do you want the practice area or not?” In a minute Anakin came out dressed in his usual outfit. Obi-Wan stood by the door waiting. “Breakfast was made, though you don’t have much time to eat,” he stated calmly, careful not to get on Anakin’s bad side. The apprentice just nodded and quickly ate in silence. When he finished he stood up and followed his master out the door. “What are we working on today?” Obi-Wan turned his head and quickly responded with, “Reflexes.” Anakin groaned, “Are we ever going to get assigned a mission again?” Obi-Wan sighed, “Well, I hope so. Though I’m not sure they need us after the last time. They’re probably giving us time to get in some more training.”  The boy dropped his head and clenched his fists. “You mean let me get more training,” Anakin growled. Obi-Wan could feel the anger coming off him. He stopped him from walking and touched his shoulder. “Everything will fall into place Anakin. Soon we’ll be off in a mission. I’m sure it won’t be to long. They know you’re a terrific Jedi.”

The pair both arrived at the open area and another team was using it. As they walked in the master came to Obi-Wan.
“Sorry for using your space,” he said and motioned for his padawan to follow him. Anakin took out his light saber and pointed it towards them playfully. “Should I?” Obi-Wan quickly dismissed the idea, “No, that’s not funny Anakin.” Anakin laughed and put it back into his belt, amused at his master’s response. After the other team had left they began.  “Alright, so reflexes. You obviously know in a mission you need to be quick and keen to your senses. If you are not in tune with your senses…” Obi-Wan made a motion simulating death. Anakin understood and continued to listen. “So we are just going to test them today. Even though I can tell you are eager for combat.” Obi-Wan took out his light saber and laid it down and he motioned for Anakin to do the same. “No weapons. Just use your instincts to tell when something is coming.” Obi-Wan stood in front of Anakin, putting up his shields so he wouldn’t find the answers. Anakin noticed this, Obi-Wan assumed by his facial expression. “Anakin, where were you yesterday when you never came home?” Anakin looked caught off guard. “What…” Only a second later Obi-Wan had Anakin on the ground.  The younger man looked up at him. “What? That wasn’t fair. I wasn’t ready!” Obi-Wan shook his head and held out his hand. “You can’t fall for tricks either.” As soon as he stood he tried to knock down his master but only got stopped from him. Anakin turned around and grabbed him but lost the grip. He was again on the ground. At this point Anakin looked aggravated. “I was just going easy on you,” he stated. “Oh yeah, I’m sure,” Obi-Wan responded getting ready for the next attack. Anakin stood up and looked around thinking for a distraction. “Hey, did you ever have a girlfriend?” Anakin jumped for the attack. Obi-Wan responded, “No,” and dodged the attack. Anakin stopped, “Wait, are you serious?” Obi-Wan glared, “ We are both Jedi and you are severely off topic.”

After a couple hours their training had come to an end. Anakin was breathing deeply as he sat down on the soft ground. Sweat beaded down his forehead, his hair was now very curly and he pushed it out of the way. He had always considered going back to a young padawan cut but didn’t want to give a naïve impression. Obi-Wan got both their light sabers and tossed it to Anakin. He grabbed it and placed it in his belt. “I didn’t think that would be so difficult. But I did beat you a couple times,” he smirked with satisfaction. Obi-Wan nodded. “Yes you did. You will gain more of these skills, and then they will be as good as your combat skills. In combat you attack, and that reflects your personality, which is why you are so great at it.” Anakin laughed, “Is that why I’m better at it then you?”  Obi-Wan lifted his eyebrows in surprise. “Oh, don’t get too cocky. You know I’m very good at combat as well.” Anakin sat back down and smiled at the sky. Sometimes Obi-Wan wasn’t so bad. “Aren’t you going to sit? Or are you just going to sit and stare at me?” Anakin flipped his hair back and smiled. “That’s not funny,” Obi-Wan said still standing. Back to the usual Obi-Wan. “Oh, come on Master,” he said taking his arm and pulling him down. Obi-Wan let out a yelp as he fell to the ground. He shook his head and fixed his hair. “You always need your way, don’t you?” Anakin grinned at him, “You know me so well.” His master turned from him and saw the next group coming in to train. “We should probably be off now,” he said pointing towards the other people. Anakin pursed his lips and nodded. He jumped up and didn’t bother to put out his hand. He knew his master wouldn’t take it. He avoided all physical contact as possible, besides in training. Anakin wondered what would happen if he just gave him a hug or something. He might hit him, he may scold him, or maybe he wouldn’t care. Anakin thought his master needed a hug. He was always so stressed out. I’m gonna do it, Anakin said to himself. Of course not while others were around. That would make Obi-Wan go ballistic.

“Should I make dinner?” Anakin turned to see Obi-Wan’s horrified expression. It was priceless. “Absolutely not,” he replied pushing Anakin out off the kitchen. He quickly turned around and began grabbing bowls. Anakin stood awkwardly outside the kitchen. “I’m not allowed to watch you do what you do best?” His master looked back at him, “You sure have some odd questions. I am here to guide and train you. Not teach you how to make dinner.” Anakin frowned, “What’s the big deal?” Obi-Wan sighed, “Fine. Come here,” he said quietly. Anakin smiled and came over. “Okay, so what’s the secret to making food?” Obi-Wan laughed, “There’s not really a secret. Maybe you just have to be more careful, and watch the timer.” The young man laughed and agreed. “Y’know… you’re probably right.” Obi-Wan scoffed, “Aren’t I always?”

“It’s ready, come get it.”  Anakin ran into the kitchen and took his plate gratefully. “Thank you,” he said quickly wanting to eat. He took a seat at the table and took a bite. Anakin smiled, “This is so good. Someday I hope to cook just like you.” Obi-Wan still stood in the kitchen and gave Anakin a funny look. He grabbed his plate and sat on the other side of the table, which wasn’t very big. Obi-Wan carefully ate his food; he obviously wasn’t going to start the conversation. Anakin figured he’d give it a go. “So…” His master looked up, “so,” he said imitating him. “Have you really not had a girlfriend?” Obi-Wan’s eyes enlarged and Anakin could feel the slap of his shields. “No I have not,” he stated continuing to eat. “You shouldn’t find it such a shock. You act as if you have one, which would be disobeying the code.” Anakin felt hurt. “Well, I just figured over the years you would have had some secret…” Obi-Wan cut him off, “ No, unlike you I actually believe in following rules that are set.” Anakin scrunched his face in confusion. Why was his master so harsh tonight? “Master, are you alright?” Obi-Wan had gotten up and was heading towards his room. He stopped. “I am fine,” he said unconvincingly.

Obi-Wan entered his room and felt completely overwhelmed. When his eyes started to sting he sat down on his bed and began to meditate. He pushed all his feelings out to the force, but they wouldn’t stop coming back. He brushed his hand through his hair trying to think of how to stop them. Obi-Wan felt anger, which he knew could not stay. He meditated for hours. The more he sat, the angrier he became. He wasn’t mad at Anakin. Obi-Wan was mad at himself for numerous reasons. Lately had had been being a jerk to the boy. He been projected his anger onto him, which wasn’t right. But he also felt out of control.

Anakin sat in his room thinking. It was around twelve-forty and something was keeping him up. He wanted to do something. He sat down eventually but couldn’t stop turning. That’s when he felt it. Obi-Wan was worrying. Anakin could feel it seep through the walls. He wondered whether to let it be or to get up and see if he was all right. Soon Anakin stood and quietly opened his door. It was pretty dark out in the main room and he had to cross to reach Obi-Wan’s. He began taking small steps but his vision really wasn’t that good. Anakin tripped over the side of the couch and fell forward making a loud bang. He froze silently on the ground. Only a second later his master came out from his room. A light flickered on and Anakin cursed quietly. What a fool he’d probably look like. Obi-Wan noticed him and tilted his head. “Anakin. Do you want to get up?” Anakin gave a weak laugh and got up. He bit his lip and thought whether to explain himself, but Obi-Wan got to it before him. “What are you doing up?” Anakin looked around the room thinking on how to put it. “Well, I thought I felt… I… do you feel sad?” His master looked taken aback. He seemed to twitch before answering, “ I’m fine Anakin, “ he replied. Anakin shook his head. “Why won’t you tell me? You do realize I have been living with you for a long time. Don’t you feel comfortable around me? You use too…” Obi-Wan didn’t have anything to say. Something was wrong and there was no doubt his other side would figure it out. “I’m sorry Anakin,” he whispered. Soon his mentor turned around and went back to his room. Before he stepped inside he asked, “Are you alright… from falling?” Anakin nodded feeling different. Obi-Wan’s voice was much more soft. He felt the compassion as he shut the door with a nod signaling good night.
