Description Side view of my headdress and ruff. The hairstyle was based heavily on multiple portraits of women of the Spanish court.

The ruff was made from silk organza and cotton lace (machine bobbin). The carcanet from a couple of metal belts. The pearls were all wired to form the knots and hand sewn in place.

Beautiful work and simply a splendid photograph too.

The mixture of black, gold, pearls, white lace and red hair are quite striking.

Color wise it reminds me somewhat of Hilliard's famous "Ermine Portrait" of Queen Elizabeth I.

Thank you for sharing your talents.

Thank you I am looking at transferring some heavy silver bullion on to this gown after having so much trouble with another Spanish gown project. Basically my fabric has been ruined and so I'd like to rescue the project somehow! And I think the fit I achieved with this gown really goes mean I should finish it properly

I'm inspired. I think I may be forced to go hunt up bits out of the craft room and try something like this.
