Description Oh look, more sculpey!
Sorry about the photo... my camera and I don't get along, especially indoors and at close range

So, these are a bunch of characters from various video games and stuff, which I made from sculpey III. Some of them are shiny 'cuz I nailpolished them.
Sora, in the middle, was my first ever sculpey sculpture

The boy and girl with the ears are from a wonderful DA animation, called "Draw With Me", which is by
and can be seen here: [link]

And yes, the background is meant to be brown.

Enjoy this lot!

Sculpey is so fun to work with. x3 Though I'm more of a super sculpey fan.

These are very nice, I think the Roxas and Sora have to be my favorites; the detailing on them is great~

Super sculpey, eh?
Is it better than sculpey III, do you think? If it's stronger I'd be very keen to try it... if only I could find some. Truth is I've never seen super sculpey before... it's this blasted isolated county that I live in

Super sculpey is easier to work with, I think. It's kind of a pinkish fleshy color, so you'd have to mix it with regular sculpey or paint it if you want to change the color. Its softer and when baked it less brittle than the regular, so it holds up better. It is rather pricey though...it can be up to $12 in stores. It can also be bothersome to use if you have really warm hands though, or if the environment it too warm, because it can easily get too soft.

You might have to look online to buy it, but you could have just missed it. I had to look carefully at my art store because the boxes aren't too fancy and eye-catching, so its easy to miss them.

Ooh, thanks for that! Maybe I've seen it and mistaken it for air-drying clay because of the packet...

From what you've said, super sculpey sounds a bit like soft fimo- have you ever used it? Mostly I prefer it over sculpey these days, 'cos it's just a bit tougher and more flexible after baking.

I might have used it once or twice, but I usually mix the fimo I have with sculpey. XD' I've been meaning to test it out on its own, and maybe some other polymer clays too. Maybe this summer when I'm making things for the upcoming con over here~

Glowies In reply to CloudyKasumi [2010-05-09 21:14:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, tell me what you think of it
Is your fimo coloured? Or does it come in a colour like super sculpey?

Okies~ XD Nah, the fimo I have is white. :3

Oh, ok. I buy it in all different colours. My current favourite is the glow-in-the-dark variety

Highly recommended, if you ever come across it!

I found some glow in the dark sculpey a little while ago~ It glows really well in the package, though I haven't yet had the time to test it out. It was the coolest thing to find~

You use nail polish to give them shine? That's really creative!

I have only used acrylics and sculpey glaze before, never thought to use nail polish. I'd probably be afraid that it would mess up the paint somehow. >_<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-01 23:45:44 +0000 UTC]

With paint it's never been a problem, but on the occasions where I added details in permanent marker I found nail polish to be a very bad idea

And sometimes, for reasons unclear, the nail polish never quite dries and the poor sculpture is doomed to a life of stickiness... so I don't actually use it anymore

If only I could get my hands on some sculpey glaze... I've never actually seen it before.

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-01 23:55:02 +0000 UTC]

O_o Uh, yes?
Really what exactly?

Really:
a) Haven't I seen sculpey glaze before?
b) Does nail polish make stuff sticky?
c) Does nail polish smear permanent marker?
d) All of the above?
e) Other (please specify)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Juicyfruitgirly In reply to Glowies [2010-05-02 00:00:35 +0000 UTC]

It was "really?" about the sculpey glaze. The permanent stickiness sounds suckish though. D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-02 00:09:58 +0000 UTC]

A shortish way south of Sydney... which is exactly where you'd expect to be able to buy anything sculpey-related, yes?

I dunno, it's weird...

Juicyfruitgirly In reply to Glowies [2010-05-02 00:24:40 +0000 UTC]

Maybe ask where you can get some, next time you go to an art store?

Someone somewhere should be helpful. If you can't find it anywhere, you could always turn to the internet and I'm sure the internet would be happy to oblige.

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-02 00:26:52 +0000 UTC]

Hey guess what, I TOTALLY FOUND SCULPEY GLAZE!!
I just walked into the store one day and there it was!
Only I got the 'satin' one rather than the 'glossy' one, which may have been a mistake...

But anyway, yeah just thought I'd mention it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Juicyfruitgirly In reply to Glowies [2010-05-19 05:58:51 +0000 UTC]

YAY SCUPLEY GLAZE!
I guess it only matters if you want that high-gloss finish to it. I'd be happy with any glaze since it'll seal in and protect the acrylic that I paint sculpey things with.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-19 09:24:03 +0000 UTC]

Acrylic paint... oh, yeah that reminds me! I ALSO FOUND SUPER SCULPEY!!

I'd never seen it before, and I found it! It was like Christmas that day!
The kind of Christmas where they charge you 40 bucks for a lump of clay and a tiny bottle...

So anyway yeah, now I'm going to have to use paint as well. Naked super sculpey is the most hideous looking stuff ever

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Juicyfruitgirly In reply to Glowies [2010-05-19 16:47:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but it comes out nicely, and you can make things more detailed with the paint.

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-20 06:43:18 +0000 UTC]

You should totally make me a sculpey thing for an art trade.
Would be badass.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-20 21:17:45 +0000 UTC]

That it would!
It might take about ten times as long though.
Still, I'm up for it!

Juicyfruitgirly In reply to Glowies [2010-05-20 21:45:06 +0000 UTC]

YAY! That's okay, Taking forever is acceptable. ^^
AND YOU CAN TOTALLY USE YOUR SCULPEY GLAZE FOR IT.

Think you can make a dragon? You can make whatever, but I want to draw one still. I also want to make one out of sculpey now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glowies In reply to Juicyfruitgirly [2010-05-21 06:23:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah yeah, it'll still be a dragon!
I've actually made a few dragons out of sculpey before, so I think I'll be fine...
And YES, SCULPEY GLAZE!

Do you have any specific requests for this particular dragon?
