a battle of the alien adventurers, these two old men are anything but frail, they both, while looking like retired old men on the outside, are actually skilled paranormal investigators (max works for the plumbers and ford wrote the secret journals) they both take care of 2 young children while fighting monsters (ben & gwen and dipper & mabel) they both have been pulled back multiple times to their old life revolving around the supernatural, even if they just want to live happily with their family
this works alright, i love grandpa max, he's one of my favourite old men in cartoons, he's just a retired secret agent trope done so right while also being so far out there that it works, i like this one
