Gastlys are young amphibians that can utilize their very toxic digestive system to produce bubbles as some sort of floatation device. Simply by breathing in and out, they can balance the toxic gas needed to make themselves float.

Haunters are the Gastlys in teenage stage as they grow more toxic and playful with their surroundings. A lick from them transfers a cocktail of bacteria that are capable of breaching your skin, cause fever and hallucinations. Very few are reported to have died due to this, but incidents of Haunters licking anything that moves are common.

Gengars are adult Haunters with a more toxic venom. They are most active at night as they commonly prey on sleeping targets. Myths from several cultures have portrayed Gengars as dream eaters due to this behavior.

Because they are highly toxic pokemons, young trainers are strictly prohibited from acquiring them, and are only mostly granted permission when training with an adult expert.
