Description I may have a bit of a weakness for Loki with his kids. Okay, a HUGE weakness. And, really, it may be for all Supervillains with their children cause I always had a major thing for Lex being cute with Kon when I was in SV, hmmm...^__-

Alas, as popular as preggers!Loki is, him with his kids doesn't seem as common in fic...:-p

I keep thinking about the hoard of troll women that Loki birthed after eating the heart of the witch woman in the ironwood, even with Sigyn and Loki's boys, there would still be more kids that could call Loki mom

Yes I'm a major comic fan and mythology fan so I was kinda miffed but enjoyed it too when Sleipnir was shown only once and Hela was Loki's sister and Fenrir was her pet

Lol, yeeeeah. MCU really does play so very fast and lose...and then the comics add another layer...but that's what makes combining them such a fun, cracky challenge ^^

Yay! I found another piece of Loki and his children. XD So cute thanks XDΒ

There are many versions of Norse Myths. In some European country their Norse Myths don't even know who loki is. To truly learn Norse Myths really need to spend lots of time (I felt like I need centry to truly understand Norse Myths). Because there are so many version, it can be easily confuse but have lots of fun at the same time lol.Β

THe ironic thing is that Loki is the mother of all of these. He ate the heart of angrboda and became pregnant.

Here's what I know:
Loki was raped by a horse to give birth to splenrir
Loki slept with a giantess to give birth to Fenrir

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Keseko In reply to KuboTaiko [2014-08-24 22:17:25 +0000 UTC]

No. He only gave birth to the horse. The mother of the others is AngurboΓ°a, a female JΓΆtunn.

KuboTaiko In reply to Keseko [2014-08-26 14:02:21 +0000 UTC]

It depends on which versions you read. In the original version(before christians started changing it to fit their religion), Angrboda was a witch that came to plague Asgard. They tried setting her on fire but her heart could not be burnt and with it she resurrected herself again and again. Loki then came up with an idea and told Odin to burn her a final time, when she was reduced to ashes he ate the heart, no heart, no Angrboda. However her dark magic manifested inside him and he birthed her children. Then his wife came home.

Actually, Iceland was Christianized precisely at the year 1000 AD. The Norse Mythology was written in 1263 (or maybe around that year) by the Icelandic historian, politician and philosopher Snorri Sturluson, Chieftain of the Sturlung family clan. Snorri was a Christian, not a pagan. He was inspired by Christianity, Norse legends and even by the tales of the Natives in North America. The version you read must have been written later on after the Prose-Edda was given out. AngurboΓ°a was never killed, Loki slept with her once while in Utgard. Loki may have given birth to Sleipnir the horse, but the rest were given birth by AngurboΓ°a. His wife also gave birth to his sons, VΓ‘li and Narfi.
Before the writing of the Edda and before the Vikings were converted to Christianity, all Norsemen mostly just worshipped Thor, Odin, Freyr, Freyja, Bragi, Γ†gir, Loki and Tyr. Their histories weren't really known much (the Norsemen cared about their own legacies, not much about their afterlives) until Snorri wrote it down.
Snorri wrote it down because he knew that the Viking age was coming to an end, Christianity had replaced it. And he wanted to mean that a new era was upon the people.

I love Snorri Sturluson, he was like the Tolkien of the middle ages. He was offered to become an Earl by the King himself, but he rejected it. Saying that he wanted to be an inspiration, not a ruler (although he liked being a leader, he just didn't want to RULE over anyone).

You're both right, but she didn't say about the origins of Norse Mythology, she was talking about the original version of Loki's ability to have children (but Thorberg is right, he only gave birth to Sleipnir). It was Angrboda, but as a witch and a shapeshifter, she lived different lives, so Loki eating her heart was actually him eating a version of her-back then she went by a different name before coming Angrboda.

Heheh, well, that seems to be one of those changing things depending on which source for the myth you're following. Some have it that Angrboda birthed them, some have Loki. ^_^

I just noticed that Hel looks strikingly similar to Loki, she's even got the same green and black scheme and her dress has a similar fashion style to Loki's costume, she's also got his black hair and green eyes. Yep, she's a daddy's girl. I've seen some cute pics of daddy Loki but I've always wanted to see Thor as an uncle taking care of his niece and nephews.
