I remember seeing a piece of artwork appear on my feed once, it was a representation of Queen Boudica and I remember thinking to myself, “I don’t remember seeing a statue of her looking like that before” it was a powerful representation. And it wasn’t a statue, it was a drawing. A person drew it. So I followed him immediately! Then the same artist drew a series of full coloured superheroes, with an Iron Man that looked like you could reach into the screen and hold it in your hands, but the Hulk! I have never seen anything like that before. And then he starts publishing songs. Yep. Crazily talented polymath.

I was utterly gobsmacked when he started following me and I thought he was just humouring me, but he took the time to comment on my comic, and was genuinely interested. It was kind of like Einstein following a Science Teacher around and being impressed by their scribbles on the backboard. I found through conversation someone with some very similar interests and takes on the world.

He drew a picture as part of a challenge and I suggested he should draw Innocent Man in his style, not really expecting him to do so. He not only did so, but the level of work and detail, the form and style, I have tried all evening to write down what it is like to see a character that you have created being brought to life like that, it was like a Frankenstein moment when he witnessed his creation come to life.

So I have tried to return the favour, and used parts of our conversation and his images to create a two page mini-comic, based on a character created by www.deviantart.com/septahelix

This story of a flashback in the life of Abstract Man is not any story that he has shared with me, it was more a weaving of some philosophy and some of the comments he leaves under his images that inspired this. I hope www.deviantart.com/septahelix does not mind. I imagined a young Abstract Man, coming up against his first supervillain, Mrs Plain!
