I'm a bit late, but he's a sphinx. ^^ basically human sphinxes have the body of a lion with eagle wings, and the face of a human. With a pony sphinx it's the same but with the head of a pony.

A very long one. x3 Basically I think that there's a whole mess of sphinxes out there, some of which however, being traditional sphinxes (As seen in the episode with Somnebula:Β Sphinx FIM Β and hybrids, which are griffins + ponies. They would have basically the same exact traits, but descended differently to have (as shown above) claws instead of paws in the front as well as natural fur colors. There's a lot more I could probably talk about, but that was just one of my ideas. XD

It is. ^^ This is based off a sphinx which was from (I think) Greek mythology. Basically it was a mix of an eagle, lion, and human. Here it's a pony instead of a human. :3

Technically, he should be holding his arrows in his draw hand (Claw?).
In ancient times, archers were able to hold their arrows in the same hand they used to draw back the bow. This allowed them to fire much faster than archers today. In a short documentary I watched, a guy was able to fire 3 arrows in under a second while in mid air. He was also able to split an arrow that was shot at him. He split and arrow in mid air! Just thought you might find that interesting.

Do you still know the name of that documentary? Because I thought splitting arrows in mid-air has been proven to be impossible by the mythbusters or something.

Not really a documentary, more like an article, it's only about 5 minutes long. And the Mythbusters proved that it wasn't possible to split an arrow in half. Splitting an arrow is possible yes, but not right down the middle robbin hood style.

I think a lot of professional archers and hunters have a big problem with how he's claiming to rediscover/reinvent "battle" techniques and how modern archery is only for show. He's a very skilled archer (amazing trick shots too), so as an amateur I have no right to deride him, but is he saying that historical Saracen/Arabic archers all fought like Legolas: running up to enemies, leaping off horses, backflips, shooting three arrows at once...?

TL: DW Lar's Anderson's technique's work, but he is a trick shooter, nothing more. The style he uses is based on still practiced East Asian techniques, quivers are still useful and don't slow down other archers, and the tricks he performs are not useful in battlefield conditions.
Also, archery styles humans use may not be all that helpful to a flying clawed pony/griffin hybrid.Β

Holding arrows in the draw hand weakens its grip a bit (makes it hard to pull back high draw weights), so it's a bit of a trade-off!
