I'd hate to barge in on this, but points actually aren't worthless unless they're sent directly to your account ! I've actually made quite a bit from turning points into money, it's a tedious process though I gotta admit.
I hope this doesn't come off as rude or anything!

I haven't looked into the conversion thing in ages but when it was first introduced they took a 20% fee, dunno if that's still a thing but aside from that it takes Way Too Long and is So Much Hassle when it comes down to it- I'm glad it works for you but I don't have time to wait or deal with what DA puts you through to get your money (and iirc they only waive fees if you have a Core Membership? idk if that's still a thing either but if it is, yikes) and the fact that you can ONLY use points gotten through the commission widget, DA likes to make shit take so much longer than it needs to bc the site is a mess and the Admins don't give a shit (op of this post had a transfer that took a good year for them to get once iirc- and one that was just Stuck Forever too iirc), and there's a Limit to How much you can transfer/get transferred in a year that's another bump to the whole ridiculous process. Myself and many others only income is through their artwork- more often than not we don't have the time to even consider the ridiculous mess that is Converting DA Points.
Not to mention the fact that people who primarily use points are children- and people in online art communities who work on commission/etc have had enough crappy dealings with kids that there's been more of a shift in community to only allow business from people who are 18+ (which is Great, and what I do as well) - and at that point there's no reason to accept points anymore. If you're 18 they can have a paypal account, if they don't have money? That Sucks? But someone isn't required to take points just bc of that.
It's also worth mentioning that the sort of "culture" ig around DA points has led artists' work to be SEVERELY undervalued, and has contributed to people undercutting their prices on here so much further than you see on other art sites- the amount charged on average (and demanded by kids with DA points) is hideously low, and its just like what's expected on this site. In the end even with the ability to turn points into money it's not at all worth it imho.
It's completely valid for people to refuse points, with all the mess and hassle they're still virtually worthless- the only reason I came in to say anything was because the person above (who hid their comments lmao) was making a fool of themselves and saying some dumb childish shit after op politely told them they don't take points gfhfgh

But yeah! You're completely right, DA admins really screwed their users over with the whole points to money thing and I really dont blame people for only taking PayPal since it's the only sure way to know they're getting their money.
