Description The Devil's Mountain (Der Teufelsberg) is an abandoned spy / listening station in Berlin (Germany).

I've had permission to take this shot.

This picture (www.deviantart.com/art/Teufels… ) shows the compound from outside

GobboE From my perspective, it looks like they're busy trying to repair the Epcot in Walt Disney World in Florida.

My only criticism of this image is that the structure to the right is too distracting, and distracts from the central focal point. That aside, this is a great shot. I love the hazy sunlight, and the subtle light across the surface of the central structure. I also like how the farthest structure blends into the background (quite appropriate!).

Thank for your kind and helpful comment. Yes I agree, the building on the right distracts. I think if I had to redo this shot I would position myself more to the right and change the whole of the angle a bit.  I'll view the original file and see if cropping it differently helps.

Cant help wondering if this building architect was inspired by this spy station other way around. This building was the US pavillion for the 1967 Universal exposition in Montréal, ca. it used to have a plastic-like outer covering.

The triangular shapes are commonly used for these kinds of listening stations. So I think you are correct: the architect was inspired by the 'spy architecture'

I didn't know there was an artist living there, I heard there were gypsies. Too bad I didn't had the time to go there when I was in this town ! Nice shot btw !

Intense!

It doesn't feel so severe in mood now, I have to say. I think the graffiti helps in giving off that impression.. that it's not as intense a place as it was?

I like the patterns, and how almost every bit is 'tainted' in some way. The different colours are interesting, and I like the composition of it all too.

Great stuff.

The artists who inhabit the place make it come alive...still it's a surreal place with its past hanging over it like a iron curtain (pardon the pun)
