My loving tribute to the comedy trio of the old 'Road to' movies, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorthy Lamour. This piece isn't based off any one film in particular, just the three of them. If you've never seen any of the Road to films, I highly reccomend them. Road to Singapore was the first, but Road to Morraco is my personal favorite.The films all have a very campy-fun style (a forerunner to the more recent Mel Brooks comedies, really) and I wanted to keep that feel to this piece which is why I used that retro/Shag style again. I think it carries the energy and light hearted feel I wanted.
Medium: Original sketches taken into Photoshop 6.0 and colored over there. No, I did not vector it. I did not figure out how to vector until the very end of the piece and am now kicking myself because that would have made it about a hundred times easier. Next time I do something in this style, I'll try the vectors.

I love classic movies...and I haven't seen any of the "Road to" movies, and I've heard of them so much.

I remember watching the "Road to" films as a kid... what? They aired them on AMC. I love how they broke the third wall, and that scene when he climbs up the robe that appeared out of the basket... so very funny. I need to watch them again.

Oooo, memories of watching the oldies at my grandmother's house... she got me into watching several old hollywood classics, and the "Road to..." movies were among them. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Had to love the love/hate relationships between Bing and Bob's characters... especially all of the running gags that seemed to pop up in all of them:
"Patty-cake, patty-cake, baker's man... bake me a cake as fast as you-!"

Nice job! You do a good job of imitating the 'Shag' style in your artwork.
I know the pain of doing painstaking work in Photoshop for something that would have taken a few minutes using vectors, so I can appreciate the amount of time and effort that it must have taken to get this kind of effect in Photoshop.

Well, part of that was devArt was on about a 4 hour delay cycle last night. The other part is I've replied to a lot of the comments because I've actually had stuff to say. Normally I avoid it because I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to boost my comment count, but there's something about Bing and Bob that inspires people to conversation
