My eyes are bleary,waiting for the stars to fall,
wanting so much to wish,
to wish for you,
so too, like the stars,
you fall.
Lashless, my naked eyes,
battered with stinging tears,
Every lash loosed upon the wind,
And plucked and broken,
Carrying my dreams,
Away from me,
from me to you.
And cents less,
My pennies fill a fountain,
Oxidizing in salt water cascades,
and still, my wishes,
Stilled.
Drowned.
Unanswered.
