Description Wonderer - Artwork made in 14 hours
I just realize I seem to haven't really drawn a full painting for myself for a long time now, so i am happy i was able to make one now !

Speedpaint/Timelapse video:
youtu.be/lxQR2QwDROs

Had a really hard time w/ editing, didn't know rendering/exporting it could take so long and had to consider multiple variables such as specification of the recorded
footage and music. I also overlook a slight mistake with the editing(just a timing adjustment and speed duration which in the first render i made it play too fast so i had to make the video longer) and had to re-render for a long time, but in the end, i am happy that it turned out well !

Watched the speedlapse. It's kind of strange how similar in a lot of ways our work processes are. One thing I notice is that you work out your composition (colors & values) as you go along, and you do a lot of variations before you settle on something. I kind of have a similar habit, though I do lots of variations on different compositional elements later on, add different values/pop-out colors/things to the piece that were never in the original sketch and it takes me a while to settle and actually get to rendering. I'm also amazed at the substantial amount of details & cleanup you put in, I've never been very good at that.

The constant zooming & rotating is a bit crazy to watch haha. Especially since I put it to 2x speed... ^^

By the way. Your website link leads to a cute robot pic instead of the site.

Thanks! Yes, that infact is the most difficult part when doing original characters without any plan. In fact i was not planning to make a full painting, but somehow just ended up with it .
This timelapse really reveals my habit(and also not the good habits). This is probably one of my fastest artwork as i am currently experimenting w/ a different approach, my previous one takes incredibly long because i never get rid of my rough sketch which i use it as part of my painting and have to do lots of cleanup. I just can't stop feeling itchy to do clean-ups though i feel like organic sketchy can be good too and is something i should consider .

Ah this one, the zooming and rotating is my concern, initially the video was rendered to 20 minutes, and i realize it was incredibly too fast and too wild with the zoom in i am making.
Is the video making you uncomfortable at this speed and you prefer a slightly longer video or do you find it okay as long as its not 2x speed?

Thanks! I didn't notice it and had to update all my deviation featuring the link.

I guess I mentioned it because it is kind of a problem for me at the moment. Sometimes I spend hours upon hours in order to fix or improve the composition if I'm stuck, and generally I do eventually figure it out, but it takes a very long time. Especially with more complicated pieces that have multiple characters, complicated backgrounds, etc. It gets really complicated really quickly. I'm trying to work on my thumbnails right now to hopefully get better tat this, as I'm quite fast at everything else apart from it...
Cleanup also tends to slow me down a lot. Weirdly the idea of leaving it in, but just spending the time on adding more details instead helps and often gives me a better result. Masks help a ton as well, but again when the pieces are complicated managing them feels like hell.

I think it's good. Maybe lowering the frame rate helps? I don't really know.
