Girls und Panzer is a show set in a universe where girls participate in a martial art called "Sensha-dou", also known as Panzerfahren or Tank Driving.
The operation of tanks is as much of a lady's art as flower arranging or tea ceremony in this world, and Nishizumi Miho, the girl above, was once the best tankers out there, as she came from a long line of tank operating women. In one championship match of a national sensha-dou tournament, though, Miho's actions cost her team the match, and she vowed never to return to the sport again. She purposely chose to enter a high school that did not have sensha-dou as an elective, but as fate would have it, that very year the school revived the once abolished elective and forcefully recruited Miho into the program.
The anime follows Miho and her friends' experiences learning about and operating tanks, as well as the national tournament which this year has the fate of their school on the line.

my god that sounds awesome (and having done a little research I can safely say St Gloriana Academy ftw)
sadly it doesn't seem to be out in Britain yet though
