Description Used the lens-refraction technique.

This is my first Lens Refraction experience. Feedback highly appreciated.

Well, I really like this shot. I don't know exactly what lens refraction is (I know the meaning but I don't know what effects it has on the picture). Maybe you can give me an explanation. Nevertheless the composition alltogether is great. Using a flashlight highlights the petals and the leaves and makes nice reflections. However this also makes too much contrast and takes out all the background and leaves it blank/black. This can be a desired effect but I think the black area in the middle is too big and dominates the setting. To have some highlights on the objects from behind would improve the secenery enormously!

But then you have another advantage by the way this shot is taken. It's perfect for the use in photo collages or manipulations because it's easy to erase the black background and fill it with something else.

Thank you very much for your kind comment!
I just had an old 94mm F/1.5 soviet lens (my camera has a built-in lens, it is not an SLR), i put the tripod with it between the droplets and the camera, with the rear end of the lens (the one which you insert in the camera) facing the droplets. It not only magnifies it 2x approx, but also allows me to set my camera's zoom to ultra-telephoto position (380mm)!!! The high aperture is needed so that the corners of the lens don't appear in the pic. The more wideangle the lens, the higher the magnification. But the distortion also gets higher. And the depth-of-field shrinks. With a 38mm F/2.0 lens it is almost impossible to shoot anything but illustrations on paper... And i must tell you that the lens-r technique decreases the DOF anyway...
Thanks aggain

Fantastic George... Really Good there is lots to look at in this picture from the leaves and petles to the drop of water that is forming... How do you get such a clear well lit picture whill keeping the background black?.. It's Great

I fixed the camera on a tripod, the refracted lens on another, used a flashlight to illuminate the petles and droplets, while the background remained dark. It was fairly dark outside... Thank you, Spooky Mouse!

Thank you very much!
By the way, t'is my first one with Lens R. , but it is not the first one with droplets in it -
The other ones are the most popular in my : Diamant (18 's) and Not willing to see... (9 's)
Thanks aggain

Excellent focus and a very nice composition (well that out-of-focus twig is not optimal, but I really like how you arranged the sharp leaves on the one side of the free diagonal and the sharp bloom on the other)

Thank you very much
Yes, i had some trouble arranging them (including the fact that with LR the depth-of-field is really small). I used a 50mm lens to do it. A more-wideangle lens would have an even smaller depth-of-field. Anyway, it allows me to use my 380mm zoom.
