Since the Adv Crit option's on... I think I'll follow it.
The shading is very well done on the body. His head strikes me as a bit odd. His forehead seems too short for his face. 
Regardless, very nice drawing. I like the simplistic background, it does not distract much from Kauhuna. The surfboard has a crazy looking shading and highlighting, but it looks cool.

I really like the wave, how the blie water blends as if it was touching the horizon and the lip of the curl rising like that. You do his hibiscus spots sooooooo neatly, see they're not that hard to draw

I like the nice haiku you wrote for him. But since when do surfers wear jock straps!? If you have to go with an article of clothing with minimal coverage related to a water-loving character, a speedo would do the job just fine. But otherwise, its real good.
