I was bored I guess, I got inspired to do this by the guns from the Kolony militia models by pig iron actually.Anyway warhammer 40k and the imperial guard are owned by GamesWorkshop (c)

the story with the catachen captain sounded very similar to a account from a US Army grunt in Vietnam who found a AK-47 type rifle in the mud next to a Vietcong rebel and did almost exactly the same thing as the catachen in the article. Although i think i already now the answer, did you happen to base that part of the description off that account or are we just witnessing some very eerie coincidence?

12 rounds per second = 720 rounds per minute
Thats not terribley fast; thats on par with a modern assault rifle of the 20th century.
The modern M16A2 has a ROF of around 800 rpm, the German MG42 WWII machine gun was around 1200 to 1500 rpm which was frighteningly fast.
Just my two cents, a caseless weapon like this could easily do something like 1200+ rpm but to keep it controlable (10.9mm, thats big, thats bound to have a nasty kick) I suppose it would be limited to something like 850-950 rpm.
Armour peircing incendiary, that wouldn't be all that practical; armour piercing would punch clean through human/soft targets too quickly to set it on fire where as a hard target would be largley unaffected by an incendiary round.
I would suggest picking a purpose; man killer or armor killer. So something like a "hollow point incendiary" would be nasty againt soft targets, "explosive armour piercing" would be nasty against hard targets and to a reduced degree soft targets. "Frangible incendiary" would be even nastier against soft targets but virtualy useless against hard.
Also, "Amour" should be "Armour".
