The Horse of the Sun, Ranaya. Another form of the same spirit found in the June and February images (there is one more in the mini series as well, but you'll have to wait until the end to see it). Note to people concerned in anatomical accuracy: Yes, I know there is nothing there, for either a male or female horse. This is NOT censorship, usually I am all to happy to put the el natural details in my animals, but here I had to leave them out as technically Ranaya (being a spiritual creature) is an "it." So in all actuality, apparent deviation from the truth is how you stick to this.

I have to explain this in detail whenever I show this picture to a family member. >.<

Official Calendar Comment:
The Four Horses of the Hialdriath, also called the Dalladrim, have been an important part of the Dallism religion for centuries. Said to be the Avatars of Hialdria the Desert Goddess, they represent the four primary elements in Dallism: Thunder, Wind, Sun, and Ice.

During conflict, Hialdria appears as the Sunhorse, the most formidable of the four, representing power, war, courage, and battle. It is popular as a herald on flags of war. A famous chant spoken as a prayer over armies is called the Song of the Sunhorse. The Sunhorse's Dahlsanese name is Ranaya. Brave, fierce, strong, and clever, Ranaya is a symbol of defense and protection as well as war.

Orginal size 8" x 11" on paper board, mixed media colored pencils and watercolor. Whew! Another sunset! This pose gave my hand a royal cramp, but I think I pulled it off. The little things down below are supposed to be the tents of an army on the morning of battle, since Ranaya is also the Herald of War.
