Description My my millinery class final project: A bonnet to match this ([link] ) gown.

The structure is made of buckram and wire covered in Thai silk on the outside and an old silk kimono lining on the inside. The ribbon decoration is based off of a few original fashion plates, specifically one in "the cut of woman's clothes." The ribbon itself is cheap polyester which I plan to replace when I next get my hands on some nice silk ribbon.

I think that might be more of a book than a tutorial actually. This was the final project for a university class and so the tutorial was especially a semester long. If you want to learn millinery a really good book is "from the neck up". It would show you how to make a bonnet.

Sounds like very hard work.
Do you have the Author's name for me too? So I can order it via Internet.

Found it and put it on my birthday wishes list. Maybe I'll get it on my b-day in 2 weeks time.

That looks great! ^_^ I like the contrast between the red ribbon and cream silk, and it looks really cute on you.

Are you saying I'd look better in a shako?

Thanks Si!

I'm saying alongside shakos and fore and aft bicornes this style of bonnet typifies the period

No problem!

Yes, quite true. (Though not being so military minded I first think of top hats and bonnets and not the military accouterments)

Of course, the reason I think of bonnets being that there was no female military head dress of course...
