The Belgians during the Draft Pull. It was pretty awesome and they could pull a lot of weight. Well, not these specific horses, these guys were in the light category. By the time the heavies came around, it was too dark for pictures...Related content

Abuse. Bits are like using shock collars on dogs. All about pain, no training , unnecessary, and simply cruel. Bitless work better, are not painful, and actually trains the horse.
But, best to just not even ride or force the horse to do anything. Many horses don't like it anyway, and too much weight on them causes pain and spinal issues. Small people may be able to get away for short rides every so often, but larger people and/or longer rides... It just isn't good for their spines.

Too bad we can't see the top of the far guy's head, but other than it's a fantastic pic. The contrasting angles of their heads combined with the lines of the bridles/reins looks sweet
