Description "Creative work is play. It is free speculation using materials of one's chosen form."
-Stephen Nachmanovitch

The Dinsmore cooper shop at Strawberry Banke. It was built around 1800 and was moved from Dundee NH.

Tone-mapped HDR. 2-frame vertical panorama.

This is a re-edit of Dinsmore . This version has more impact and is more in line with my impression of the original scene.

Thanks, so do I. The original needed a bit of retooling, but I love the result.

beautiful HDR. it packs a lot of moodiness. I use HDR on occasion and i like the technique. You tonemapped this one very well. Is this donr with Photomatix? I've found their pro version to be the best HDR tonemapper available. It really brings out the dynamic range without making the image look flat or gray. There is a lot of contrast here and I love to see that in an HDR... some people think that they should overdo it a lot of times with HDR and the result is a fake looking image. This image shows how to do it right. Now you need to find some good landscapes of some mountain ranges and really show it off. In my opinion thats where HDR really shines.

Well-stated! HDR is definately at its best with available light, and Photomatix Pro is the best tonemapper I've ever used. That being said, I find that straight out of Photomatix, most of my shots look a bit flat, as you've noted. I often have to make additional contrast adjustments in Photoshop to carefully reestablish a realistic light-to-dark ratio, but still keep a full range of color and tone. Ansel Adams always thought of his zone system as a means to an end and HDR is no different.

I love the tone everything takes on when it's about to storm, and this exactly captures that serenity before the storm feeling...I don't know if that's what you were going for, but I can almost smell the rain coming....beautiful work, Justin!
