Description
This is a colored pencil drawing I did of the lovely I've drawn her a few times in the past and I always struggle with her likeness for some reason. She has a really unique look I think...and she's absolutely gorgeous. I am happy with this drawing although I don't think it's my best CP drawing. I expected this to turn out better than it did. Oh well...I'm sure I will draw her again sometime in the future.
So this one is for you Kim, hope you like it

*Edit - I did a little more work on this at the advice of some fellow artists. I toned down the colors slightly by adding some grays all over. I also worked on the left side of her hair to make it a little fuller. Let me know if you see other areas that could be improved.

The eyes are sparkling. They blow me away. Her hair is vivid. Her teeth are less 'alive'. But I guess that has to do with the kind of pencils you drew her with.

The nose looks crooked, and the nose, mouth and chin don't look like the're lined up properly. The coloration is brilliant though. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could shade my drawings more realistically?

This came out beautiful Brian! I'm sure it's very hard to get a nice natural look with CP...I really like the shine in her eyes.

I haven't been on DA in a while, and so I've been going through withdrawals not getting to see your artwork!! And now i feel better because this is amazinnngg!! I love how you are able to shade so nicely with pencil crayons and get it to look very realistic. I've always had trouble >> I also like the detail put into colouring her eyes

hey brian.....i think i understand what some people mean by her left side looking flat............im thinking that she needs more hair showing on her left side its not full enuff......cause the way it is now you should be able to see her ear (at least the top of it)..........or the hair should hump out there were the ear should be...........do you get what i mean....its realy hard to explain......i think its the ear or lack of the ear
but i must say im impressed at how good you have become with these colored pencils......i tried it its not easy.......good job.....

Brian you did a beautiful job on this portrait. Nice smooth layers and it really shines. My husband cam up behind me while I was looking at it and said "hey isn't that Christina Applegate?" She does look a lot like her.

Thanks Maureen. I always told Kim that she looked like Kristen Bell...but yeah she looks like Christina Applegate too...I think it's the eyes.

I do think the left side looks a little flat, but that's probably because in the photo my friend is next to me, covering up that side of my head a bit. Still, you did an awesome job on this
