Description This is a field of yellow wild flowers next to a busy interstate. There was a storm on the way and the dark clouds made a wonderful contrast. 5/2/10

Why do the flowers in the foreground look like symmetrical copies of each other?

I agree... the contrast is terrific. You would never know that there was a busy highway right next to this location.

Okay, First buy a good camera, one that can use different lenses. If you cant afford, try a starter camera, then practice, practice, practice, then practice more. Take pics of what you want to convey to others. Is it the beauty of people, land or city scapes, flowers,or animals? You will eventually settle on what you like best.

Next, know your camera. Read all the tutorials that come with the camera, start taking pics and periodically re read the tutorials. I started taking pics 3 years ago with my camera, and I still return to read the tutorials. Also ask other DA artist' to critique your work or ask about techniques they use to get a certain quality. Most DA members are glad to help, some don't,so fuck um. Early on,more than anything I wanted too learn how to take a pic of a waterfall with the milky smooth look. So, I asked around, got the info, and after several tries, I took this. [link]

Next, Do not set expectations too high. There has been many of artist that set over zealous expectations of their work who end up burning out and giving up. Take simple pics at first and allow yourself time to grow. Sometimes I take over a hundred pics, with none worth a shit, but I learn from these shitty pics. They teach what not or what to do next time. I have and still do try to progress the quality of my pics. The subject does not need to be massive for me but what ever I take a pic the quality comes first. I have seen on DA beautiful captures with shitty quality and beautiful quality that completes the beautiful capture. The quality always comes first and I have a long way to go.

Thank you for your wonderful comments but there are many artist better than I on DA.
Finally, have fun and do what makes you happy. In the final analysis, joy and contentment is all that matters.

I hope this helps sweetie. In any case, ask all you want I am always glad to help. Send me a note if you want. See you.

This is truly beautiful. It's as if the trees in the back separate the dark and light colors. If i could feature this in a journal, I would. Nature did you a good shot. Nice work.

Really gorgeous shot! Great eye for capturing it too

May I ask what type of lens were you using? I see a little bit of an optical effect in the top and bottom portions of the photo.
