and i really don't know how to translate that title.i usually never take photos at night.. i mean.. street photos. and this time it really was an accident. i had some problems with the camera.. i was with friends, taking photos of them, and it wouldnt work when i pressed the button. so i aimed at a place with light to see if the lack of light was the problem, i didn't have my eye in the viewfinder. and i took that shot.
so.. i guess i'm not really taking any credit for the shot, i wasnt even looking at what i was aiming, i just knew there was light over there and that was all that mattered.
sometimes weird things happen
call it luck.

fuck luck....do you "burst" fire with the 20D a lot?..I got mine out last night for the first time in months (I've been a 5d addict) and I forgot how muvh fun 8 fps can be....

yes light is all that matters... at all times... and you gotta keep it at least inside... sometimes a friend's hand on your shoulder may help you keep it up... that you gotta keep looking forward...

Ah, le banding des 20D..........y'a des forums empli sur le sujet, mais Γ 3200 normal que ce soit tant visible ici, mais avec un tel shoot pris sans que ce soit voulu, on va ps en demander trop non plus hein ?!

with the canons if they cant autofocus then it wont allow the shutter to fire this is common in low light situations.

simply that in most photos a person is trying to express something, i dont think its teh case here
its randomness attributes to that fact

i'm not trying to express anything in any of my shots. as i'm not telling people what to do in my frames.
this shot is as casual as any of my other shots : not posed, just a scene happening in front of me, captured.
the only difference here is that i wasnt looking at what i was taking a photo of. and if i hadnt mentionned it, i really strongly doubt you wouldve noticed.
that kind of scene is so rare in paris.. people being close. mostly at night when everyone is walking like a zombie, going home.
the fact i wasnt looking in the viewfinder makes that i have a sort of distance with that shot and consider my camera took it, not me. but i still love it, as a shot i would see in someone else's gallery.
i'm very surprised you would think i try to express things in my photos.
i'm only catching what other people express.
and here these people express something. in my opinion.

you misunderstand
express could maybe be replaced with, showing something?? like, i take a photo of a sunset, i want people to see that for its beauty...i take one of people living in mountain villages to show their poverty and i hope the think on it and act accordingly
ok i obviously would not have picked it was an accident, but there was something about the shot that seemed random and, unplanned is the wrong word....i dunno
i hope that has clarified things for you, do not think i am being critical, though personally i prefer criticism

either way, photography is full of lucky accidents. the photographer always depends on what "reality" gives him. here it just was taken to an extreme.

If we'd call it luck, this is an extroardinary example. The framing is so perfect, love all the layers in the composition. And that moment, it's perfect too. I adore the melancholy this breaths. I applaud your luck, miss!
