Thank you kindly (n_n)
My goodness, that idea for an art piece with her is so utterly clever and a great! Now I just may have to, hee hee.
I need to get active again anyways on dA and with my art in general.

I still have the printout of this that you gave me ^_^Β
I've been meaning to fave this piece for a while now, I really like this one! Her features are so perfect, like the wings -- AH I wish I could make folded wings that good!!Β Β And even the muscles and textures are super accurate, I just love it =3

We should definitely get together to do a collab! Β Now, I know what a collab is, but how does one do a collab? I've never done one beforeΒ

I like your rendition of Vermithrax. The color rendering is especially good! I like how you didn't make her neck unrealistically long. It's much more believable.

You're quite welcome!
Yes, it would have been nice to have seen more of Vermithrax in the film, but budgets and technology being what it was in the 1980s we're probably to have gotten as much as we did. The same thing happened to Draco in "Dragonheart" (and which I didn't like as much as Vermithrax). Lots of his scenes were cut because of the expense of creating photoreal CGI in the 1990s.
I missed out on seeing Dragonslayer on the big screen when it first came out, and I'm now sorry that I did. The first time that we see Vermithrax in her glory, as she's about to flame Galen with wings spread wide, I can imagine how that would have looked in some giant-screen movie palace, in 70mm 2.35:1 Panavision. The 16x9 aspect ratio used for DVDs simply doesn't do the movie justice.
The local cinema now has almost all digital projectors, and sometimes shows "cult classics." I'll have to ask them if they would consider showing Dragonslayer in wide-screen. I would definitely go to see that!
The other thing I didn't mention was that I liked the throat fan and neck crest you have her. It fits in well, and has a "completing" effect to Vermithrax that is hard to describe. The closest I could come is to compare it to the late Ansel Adams description of photographs, especially the "fine print:" All elements combine to create something that is "fulfilling" and "satisfying."
Vermithrax is definitely one of the best, if not THE best, dragon to appear so far in movies. She possesses a nobility that commands respect.
BTW, since you love dragons, do you accept commissions? I have an idea for a dragon I'd like to see, but don't have the artistic talent to render him. I have a few bits and pieces to guide his design and pose.
