Description This is our Final University project for our Major degree.
This is the story of a young lady called Sammie who survived a near fatal car accident in April 2009. She talks about the trauma, anxiety, nightmares and other health problems have affected her since the accident.
Filmed around Teesside, with the very much appreciated help of many friends, businesses, organizations and the University we take the viewer back in time to witness the accident and the suffering that Sammie endured through hospital and the courts. We also revisit Sammie in the present to see how shes recovered and moved on with her life.

If you look closely you can see how dirty the car was.

We'd bought the car which was due to be scrapped, the last owner was a farmer and the muck you can see was basically manure and was all over the car. Didn't smell too nice and the electric windows didn't open!

This was mainly put together for the cast and crew when we had a little première show for Sammie's Story.

Wow this is absolutely great. I hope your professor gave you top marks on it. The editing was top notch, as well as the effects and music. It's great how you reenacted a lot of things. And you can feel the emotion and the fear from the girl. I hope she's okay...I really do feel for her. She's in my prayers to continue on her path of recovery.

Great documentary. Do you think you'll do more in your future?

Oh good

I was going to say, Sammie and the girl that was Sammie in the flashbacks were two different people right?

gopherboy76 In reply to Irukapooka [2010-12-14 03:54:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the real Sammie (with the Scottish accent) only did the interviews. We didn't really want her to re-enact the crash.
A friend Kate (Irish accent) played Sammie in the recreation parts.

Okay, I thought so. I was going to say, wow...I couldn't believe she would live through it again through the reenactments.

gopherboy76 In reply to Irukapooka [2010-12-14 23:31:09 +0000 UTC]

I agree, we also respectfully let her not attend the day we filmed the crash.

Irukapooka In reply to gopherboy76 [2010-12-15 05:17:07 +0000 UTC]

You have my respect. That was very respectful of everyone on your team that participated in the filming of this project to do that for her. Seriously, some teams would be throwing a fit about that if the person they were focusing on weren't there for the moment that started it all, you know? But I like how you guys were very in tune with her feelings and also thinking about her and putting her feelings to the forefront instead of what you and your team may be thinking.

Thanks, Sammie is a good friend and we were really grateful she shared her story and allowed us to do the film.

As for your original question about more films, we've all graduated Uni, Imran (the Judge) is now at ITV and I'm working voluntary on a community based film & a Vampire based pilot episode. So no plans for any more documentaries for now.
But please feel free to check out our earlier uni films in my gallery.

I still flinch at it from time to time and I edited the scene together. The actual noise was from snapping a chicken bone.

What a haunting documentary. Like said, this is something that could be seen on TV. It should be seen on tv. I hope people who watch this video will become more aware of their own driving to not only save other lives, but to spare their own.

Thank you, I hope it would help people understand. I nearly lost my Uncle when a reckless driver hit his motorbike at high speed.

I almost lost my dad when a irresponsible teen hit him head-on at full speed. Although the guy in the car died instantly, I am thankful that my dad was driving a large freight truck so he didn't get too injured. But if he had been in any other car... he wouldn't be here.

Reckless, irresponsible driving is practically worse than drunk-driving. -_-

gopherboy76 In reply to Sapphire4723 [2010-12-14 17:19:46 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately it usually takes such an accident before some people learn. I'm just thankful your dad is fine but it's a shame someone lost their life through stupidity.

Excellent work - especially with the stunts during the accident - emotional story and great psychological facts - all in all just magnificent work - where in the UK did this take place? That judge had kind of a manchester accent when he said "lucky" xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gopherboy76 In reply to Leichenengel [2010-12-14 02:27:17 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.
The original accident happened in Scotland but we filmed it in Teesside

Leichenengel In reply to gopherboy76 [2010-12-14 15:10:39 +0000 UTC]

I see. Well still that judge had a kind of manchester accent - reminded me of an old BBC report of a demonstration of workers in Manchester and one guy was asked what they wanted and he said "We want more money" but with that accent it sounded like "We wunce moor munies"

LOL, well to be honest, we tweaked Imran's voice to make him sound more authoritative by lowering the pitch, maybe it's why it sounds a little strange. You can hear his original voice in the bloopers reel. [link]
