What sort of post work did you do, Gordon? I love the glowing effect ... very dramatic.

gordonrae In reply to faeriecrone [2007-04-26 11:49:18 +0000 UTC]

Not a lot actually,
The sun was on my back and the sky was darkening really quickly and heading for a big rainstorm, the sun lit up the stonework against the dark sky, i changed the image to sepia in picture project then tweaked the contrast in photoshop, that's all, and added the border.

faeriecrone In reply to gordonrae [2007-04-26 12:37:08 +0000 UTC]

Wow! I thought it was probably quite pure, actually. I did not mean that to offend ... I *adore* sunset photos.

I have a great deal of difficulty persuading my husband to stop the truck every few miles when we take an evening job. It's his fault. He talked me into the magic camera!

Do you like to wander at sunset and sunrise as I do?

gordonrae In reply to faeriecrone [2007-04-26 23:41:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh don't worry, no offence taken
I love sunsets and sunrises and the colours they produce
I don't get to chase very many sunrises tho, as i am always working in the mornings

I just posted a morning piece. The light fascinated me so I tried to paint it down to just light and dark.

No, i'm a farmer, i only started photography 11 months ago and i'm really enjoying learning all about it

A farmer? That sounds like wonderful and hard work. I'm in the middle of horse country but I did read ever James Harriot book ever so maybe I can see your world slightly. Do you love it?

Don't care about making money, if i have enough to get by with, just love animals and nature

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

faeriecrone In reply to gordonrae [2007-04-27 17:20:38 +0000 UTC]

I understand that completely! Next month I am entering my first (and maybe my last) art festival, offering my owrk for the first time ever. If it seels, I hope it pleases someone. If not, the joy of it means so much more to me than money ever could.

What animals?

gordonrae In reply to faeriecrone [2007-04-27 17:25:06 +0000 UTC]

Sheep, Cattle, a couple of ponies, a few hens, a few ducks, and 3 sheepdogs and a cat
A right zoo here you know

faeriecrone In reply to gordonrae [2007-04-27 17:29:52 +0000 UTC]

We have a border collie that is smarter than us all, 4 cats who think they are smarter than everyone but especially each other ... and we are thinking of chickens. Did I mention we have a herd of pet people, too? A right zoo is a fun place to live. It keeps a person real.

That makes you the Velveteen Human, I guess!

Interesting lighting and texture! Good choice with the sepia. Nice shot! BTW what castle ruins are these???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gordonrae In reply to coxjessi [2007-04-26 06:36:40 +0000 UTC]

The lighting here works well as the ruin sits high on a hill and catches all the sunlight right till the end of the day, have a notion to return and improve on this one. Sepia always works well on old castles and ruins i think
It is known locally as Torthorwald castle (near Dumfries, in the south west of Scotland) but not to sure if it really was a castle or just a big house that sits on a hill.
Thanks for your comment.

Heh thanks, the colour one was nice too, but sepia helps old ruins to show their age i think
