They aren't. The love is more of a fucus than the destruction.
I guess it's the juxtaposition (sorry for the cheesy art word but it seems to fit
a sacrificing love that is so satisfying to me. It seems to infect a lot of your work.
I guess it's pretty played out and old fashioned but that theme still really does it for me.
I feel Rodinia is built on the idea that love will save us from destruction.
And villans with conflicted motives are nice too.

I know that feeling, I'm terrible at judging my own work. I sometimes find that I'll hate something and think I've done a crap job, but everyone else thinks it's great...or when I think I've really succeeded at a piece, and then someone points out to me how chock-full of errors it is!
