This is a fundraiser for the victims of hurricane Katrina

This morning a friend posted a message about her home being underwater all the way to it's roof, and how they're being told by officials that they won't be able to return for at least three months. Now she and her children are homeless. Someone else posted about leaving her home and finding out later that Katrina had leveled her town. She has yet to hear from a loved one in the path of a sea swell, and fears her dead.

I've cried most of the morning because I haven't the room to take in everyone or the money to make sure everyone has what they need. I'm just one person.

But I'm one person with something to give.

The set being offered, Paper Rain, includes thirty icon-sized textures and one 1025x769 wallpaper-sized texture. Instead of credit for this set, I'd like you to make a donation to one of the listed charities below. The money raised will be used to help those hurt and made homeless by Katrina.

I'm not asking for much. Even one dollar helps, as your one dollar can buy that cup of coffee to calm someone's nerves or added to someone else's dollar to buy much needed supplies like medicine, clothing, and food. Every little bit counts.

ANIMALS:
In a disaster like this, animals, just like humans, go through extreme trauma and need immediate help. Many owners evacuating either could not take pets or thought they'd be back in 24 hours and left them behind. Thousands of shelter animals were simply abandoned. CNN's Jeanne Mazure describe the misery of thousands of barking dogs, waiting for *someone* to rescue them as the only sound she could hear in the long nights. Obviously rescue workers have their hands full with saving people.

The Audubon Zoo animals appear to also be in dire straits. At least some animals were left behind - CNN reposted three seals swept from their pen into the streets. Two died, a third was shot by the police after having been dosed with water for 24 hours by volunteers because they simply had no way to help the animal.

Noah's Wish - According to their site they've dispatched ten people into the disaster areas to rescue animals.

The Episcopal Disaster Relief Fund is currently accepting donations to aid those who were in the path of Hurricane Katrina.

There's also PetSmart Charities and The Humane Society of the United States, both of which are now also concentrating on helping the animals in the gulf coast region.
