In art class we were studying Kalari, a mix of martial arts, pilates/yoga, and meditation (at least, that's how I think of it). As a reflection of the stufy, we were asked to create a piece of artwork. One of the things the Kalari instructor talked to us about was our "center", where everything resonates with us. (It's a little tricky to explain).

For my piece, I chose to represent my center visually. For me, my center is my eyes. I see everything through them, and whenever I calm myself down, I feel a peace spreading from behind my eyes to the rest of my body. Hence, I tried to draw my own eyes and put them as the center of the art work. The sense of peace I feel is represented by the lotus blossom with its vines spreading out. The four colors represent the four elements (water, fire, wind, earth) which, together, act as the balance for nature. I also added in the Hindu goddess Lakshmi (top), god Shiva, and goddess Shakti (both bottom) as a nod to the Hindu art were were studying in class along with Kalari.

I don't own the Hindu gods, but I do own the artwork! And my eyes, I'm not in a CLAMP manga, so I assume no one will steal them from me.
