It represents one's true self being suppressed by the negative feelings and actions of other people towards ones' self.

Just a small point but if you really want to convay emotion like that purple is a very good colour to use as well.

Love the way you've used the black and red though it really shows how horrid people can be.

Yupp. I like using purple too. But I didn't feel it would looks right in this piece, but thanks anyway.
