I recently had the chance to chat with an AI user (never use the term AI artist. They're not artists!). We talked about the pros and cons of AI-generated images.
He argued that the use of this medium actually brought him closer to art and that he admired those who did not need it to create the images.
I don't doubt his honesty, but he really wasn't realizing the damage he was doing to the art he admired so much.
We all know that the database it feeds from is stolen.
The amount of jobs they steal is evident (many AI users offer commissions).

But the worst thing is the SATURATION OF THE VISUAL SPACE.
Thousands of too similar images bombarding our retinas, exhausting our brains.
Usurping our natural interest towards the plastic experience. Providing "trash food" for our eyes.
But it's not technology's fault (guns don't kill...). We must reflect on our level of demand, on the price of our spirit.

Now think about the power of the images. In the message they convey.
Do you want to leave that to an algorithm?
To the corporations that design the programs and that can introduce biased variables into them?
AI-generated images are only intrusive for now, but I assure you that they will soon be manipulative too. The influence they can have is too tempting for some.
