This excellent poster gives the impression that the Superman character plays a very significant (I hesitate to say dominant) role in this film. He does not. In fact he is nothing more than a punching bag for the troubled Batman who having (in this film version) cruelly tortured the criminals whom he encounters finally turns his sadism on the Man of Steel. Whereas traditionally the superhero fight stalls when both sides realize they should stop fighting each other and team up to attack the evil bad guy who manipulated them into fighting in the first place, in the fight in BvS Batman is clearly the winner and grinds the Man of Steel under his heel into the rubble of an abandoned Gotham train station. I found this outcome outrageous and grotesque, deeply disrespectful to the Superman mythos and utterly uncalled for. How in the world Superman is supposed to team up with Batman anytime in the future after this humiliating beatdown is a complete mystery to me. I used, over the years, feel sorry for Batman as he struggled to deal with the guilt and powerlessness of witnessing his parents' murder - not any more if it has come to this.
