Description The flow of a lava lamp. It's a never-ending source of organic forms. It is amazing how much time you can spend watching it without becoming bored. While they are always beautiful, they can become especially interesting while the lamp is heating up. This is a shot of such a process.

Technically, it's definitely lacking some sharpness, but I like it anyway. Scanned from negative. Edited: Levels, Unsharp Mask.

Yes, it is very cool! I used to have 3 diffrent colored lava lamps side by side in my window seal, and together they looked spectacular as they reflected in the window at night, especially at that stage Great shot!

I love lava lamps, too, and I remember that in Germany they are almost everywhere!

Good pic, it looks like some sea creature, like a jellyfish. It's a pity that the scan-quality isn't so good. You could try to take them at 240, 300 kb and then make them "lighter" with Photoshop.

I think it would be great if you put a light source behind the lamp and then photograph the silhouette...just an idea...

I'm a bit ashamed to confess, but it's not the fault of the scanner. The combination of little light, macro-focusing and moving subject was just too much for my skills. Next time, I'll try a higher ISO film (I think this one was ISO 100, but I'm not sure) so that at least there should be no blurring by camera/object movement.

The idea with the light behind the lamp sounds great. It might even get some transparent feeling... thanks for the suggestion!

Btw, I didn't notice that we have lava lamps everywhere... but now that you say it... I think there are really a lot of them. ^_^

Happy you liked the idea, try to realize it, I'm curious! (maybe colourd light is better).

I'd do it myself if I could, but I don't have any lava lamp :envious:

tell me when you've done it!

I've done it:

Transformation

Well... not exactly a silhouette, but a backlight as suggested. ^_^ Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
