Yeah, the women have the short sleeved uniforms in the new timeline... which leads one to question how their rank is discerned. Β I've noticed from trailers and images from the newest movie that they've remedied that problem by giving the female crew members long sleeves on the updated uniforms. Β

I'm still intrigued by your idea about a comic involving an all female crew and would love to see more, though I can totally understand the difficulties in finding the time and wherewithal to commit to such a project, especially since that's been my problem all along with the various ideas I have for comics. Β
I find the majority of Star Trek fan films that I've seen to be fairly cringeworthy, but I agree with you about Continues; it comes really close to capturing the feel of TOS. Β It's a shame that the recently issued fan film guidelines probably signal a premature end to that series, but I can't completely blame CBS/Paramount for feeling that some fan productions (or maybe just one in particular) took things too far.

I was trying to research more into all the differnt fan films but couldn't quite figure out which series made this new ruling by Paramount?

In a nutshell, there is (or was) an planned fan film called Axanar whose producer, Alec Peters, raised a lot of money through crowdfunding, but instead of going directly towards the film, Peters used the money to start his own for-profit studio and pay himself a $38,000 salary. Β Also, he was selling unlicensed Star Trek merchandise. Β All these things went against the unwritten rules of fan productions, which is in all likelihood a big part of the reason why CBS/Paramount have been suing Peters since December.
So anyway, last month, a somewhat strict list of guidelines for fan films were posted to the official Star Trek site and many people are blaming Axanar and Alec Peters for forcing CBS/Paramount to step in ruin things for everyone else. Β
