I, unfortunately, created Crucible after the season 6 finale, so, since her inception, I've had a ton of people ask if I'm going to make a "new changeling" version of her. I always say no because the new changelings are... quite something. A touch over the top, perhaps. This is my tongue-in-cheek response to all that. Unfortunately, I actually kinda like it, so I might doodle her like this again sometime. Maybe.I'm sure you know, but I based her on a ladybug. There's still a pop of colour, but without the need to use all of them.

I do agree that the new designs are a bit over the top. They have grown on me and I don't think they are that bad. Everyone has a right to their own opinions. I do agree if Hasbro with your interpretation of the reform designs, there wouldn't be so much backlash. Maybe if they kept the main black color and added variety to each changelings' features along with the absence of holes ( color & type differences of horns, carapaces, shells, wings, eyes ect.) it would've satisfied the wants of those wanting things relatively the same and those wanting variety. I am open to multiple color patterns/palettes on an individual as long as it isn't blaring and fits in smoothly with one another. For example, maybe have one be a darker shade of green with silver as a secondary color (eyes, wings, horns). Maybe there can be multiple secondary colors as long as it compliments the overall look of the changeling.

Now THIS is a "full/healthy" changeling design I could really get behind. The fact that you took reference directly from a known bug species (rather than the.. uber colorful magic designs they've got going on in canon) is really cute. Still close to the usual look, just missing the holes and being more cuddly in appearance.

Thank you so much! I think it would be really cool to see a bunch of new changeling OCs inspired by real beetles and other insects. It could make for some really amazing characters.

Heh, thanks. I feel like they could improve the official designs just by streamlining them a bit and going a touch more monochromatic. It's like a bunch of people made suggestions and they opted to add them all.

Indeed, they don't actually have any individuality; they're just differently colored, its still too easy to confuse them. I had also thought it would make more sense to incorporate the look of real-life insects into a reformed design [a dragonfly would certainly look different from a ladybug] than... forest pixies
